I routinely add one whole lemon(peel and all) to my smoothie. I like the fresh, zesty taste it gives. My favorite combo is bananas, mango, parsley and a whole lemon.

OK, so it sounds like this may be a case of personal preference. I think for this recipe, being that its a chocolate cake, I'll use all cacao since that is what I have in my cupboard.

I have used them in green smoothies before. Gives a little bit of a coffee feeling to it......
