OK, I admit, I love kitchen gadgets and applicances. It's an addiction. Anyhow, when making sesame milk the other day, standing there 'milking' the bag and at time squirting myself and the walls, I thought, there must be a better way...Has anyone had experience using an electric nut & seed milk maker? Is there such a thing? I've seen soy milk makers out there but am uncertain if they would work well on nuts/seeds. Ideas?
I have a SoyaJoy soy milk maker. It works great and has a feature where you can skip the whole heating/boiling process. It's the same as a SoyQuick except cheaper. Find it at http://www.soyajoy.com. Still, not cheap, but saves money in the long run. And it's a fun gadget, like you said. I am not raw yet and haven't tried seeds, but it does great with nut milks and it comes with some cool recipes. Good luck!

The thread Rawkinlocs referenced had a few people who didn't much like the Yaoh and SoyaPower applicances because the ratio of nuts to water had to be so low, 1/2 cup nuts to 4 cups water. The milks were not creamy enough and when more nuts were added, they came out a little pulpy.
How do you find your SoyaJoy? What ratio of nuts to water do you use and does it strain well? That is, is the pulp pretty dry? Easy to clean, etc...

I have tried to sell rice milk that I made with mine to my co-housing community and people complained that the ricemilk was too thick. They are definitely creamy though. One thing to work that helps is to take the skins off of the nuts after soaking. It's true it's a low ratio, not sure how low, but lots of water and about 1/2 or 3/4 cup nuts. No pulp though...at least not with the milks I've tried. Sorry this isn't more helpful.
