Help! New Sprouter!!
Hi I am sprouting soft wheatberries. I am soaking them and now am I supposed to put them in a jar? With water? Without water? A full jar? A partial ly full jar? Are they always supposed to be submerged in water? So you know how long wheatberries take to sprout?
Thank you for any advice.
after you've soaked them, put them in an empty jar, and rinse them a few times day to keep them moist. do not keep them submerged in water. make sure that the jar is big enough so that the wheatberries have enough room to sprout. i like to lay the jar on its side so that the sprouts are spread out on the bottom and have plenty of room. oh, and make sure that you cover the jar with a towel or keep it in a dark place so that they can really grow.
Thank you Thankyou Thankyou. I did not know what to do next, but luckily, I did exactly what you said. I may have soaked them too long though..
I soak wheatberries for 6-8 hours (any longer and you might drown them and they won't sprout) in a glass jar. Then my regimen is the same as earth_sista - I drain them and lay the jar on an incline so that they aren't sitting in water, and I rinse 2-3 times a day. I cover the top with cheesecloth and a rubber band, so that I can rinse and drain easily.
Good Luck! :D
Earth_Sista and Rawcanadagirl,
Yeah, They started to sprout!. They have tiny little tails sticking out the end. They are so cute.
Thank you both,
If you have trouble finding cheeseclothes, as I always do, you can buy those really really cheap knee-highs, the cheapest you can find. They work great.
