Feb 2013 Movement Thread
January is over, it's time to have some fun, eat some greens and get moving!
Whether you are 100% raw, vegan, or just starting out, being active will further improve your overall well being.
The intent of this thread is help inspire you to move; don't worry about what you can't do, but focus on what you can.
it doesn't matter if you walk a 1/4 mile, run 10 miles, P90X, Insanity; it's about getting out and making a difference in your life. By making the difference in your life you then will have a positive effect on those around you. If you are sitting in the sidelines, get on board No one will judge you, just get involved! Set the example, Enjoy the journey! GET SOME!
Tomorrow I start my 30 day raw food diet for the second time and in conjunction with the diet I want to up my exercise. I am already quite active and prefer to incorporate movement in my daily life. Ride my bike everywhere instead of getting taxis. I will do more swimming and walking.
Welcome, do what you can, understand what your body is telling you and most important enjoy your journey!
I'm in! I love to exercise and am fairly consistent, but I feel the need to step it up a notch this year (I think getting older = harder to get the results I want with the same routine). =)
Excited to be a part of this thread - I need motivation!!
Today was a 4-mile run with some hill training (on the treadmill).
Yesterday I discovered how much I LOVE the Expresso bike at the gym. No wonder there is always a line to get on those bikes!! Hoping to get on one of those tomorrow. Yesterday I did a 12-mile bike ride.
welcome, I enjoy the workouts, no matter how hard they are, if you need motivation, just ask..... I took yesterday off, but today will be a makeup day, I expect it to be hard, but worth it! Get Some and remember to enjoy the journey
I know it's been taking me a while to get back into shape.

I'm taking it easy on my attempt to regain my fitness. I started out walking and once a week jogging a short distance and gradually jogging a bit further. Now, I jog about 3 times a week, and walk another 3 days. So it's taking longer to get back into shape, but I do feel it's coming at least to some degree.
Getting off the eggs and dairy has helped immensely - no more cholesterol clogging up my veins!
Yesterday, walked slowly on the beach about 2 miles, then later took the dog for a walk - another two miles casual pace.
Thanks for the support!! It really helps! =)
Today I knocked out 12 miles on the Expresso bike - I did a tough ride and I am feeling it tonight, but it was probably a good thing b/c I have so many raw treats in store for the Superbowl tomorrow that I needed to burn off some calories in advance. lol Looking forward to my rest day tomorrow!
Yesterday, the WX in VA was very cold, so I went on a 10 mi bike ride maintaining a moderate pace as a warmup to:
5 rounds for time of:
10 Deadlifts (155#)
15 box jumps
400 m run
I love the deadlift/box jump combo, it kicks my butt and I have work it and always end up sweating during the box jumps.
Time 22:30, the cold didn't help it took 2 rounds to warm up Get some.
Do good and disappear
Good job everybody!
Today went the length (1.5Km) of the beach 6 times: walked it 5 times and jogged it once for a total of 9km.
Another cold day so I worked out in doors. Warmed up with 5x100 single unders, 10 minutes stretching shoulders ( mobility wod)
The Chief: in honor of the Navy Chief initiation tradition

Good workout, had to stay light on PC because of shoulder injury.Get Some!
The shortest distance between two points is under construction.”
Walked the beach again today in two times back and forth 2 x 2 x 1.5km = 6km.
Got lots of vitamin D from the sun.
@ Gianni - Jealous of the sun & beach - it's freezing cold here! Which means lots of indoor exercise ... at least until next week when I'll be away skiing. :D
5-mile run (treadmill) with speed work
I need to add in strength training!!! My "problem" is that I am easily bored by it. I did P90X a while back, but I only stuck with it b/c my husband did it with me. I like quick routines (ala Jillian Michaels), but given my schedule I'm finding it hard to fit into my day at home (I work part-time, homeschool four kids full-time, volunteer, and have a household to take care of). My goal this month is to figure out a quick routine I can fit in when I'm at the gym. I hate to do it at the gym (because it's always overrun with people and there's no space) but I will get over that if I have to b/c doing it at home has worked exactly 3 times in January and February. Not good. Any advice welcome!
Queen bee, follow the attached routine for two weeks, let me know when you are done. I did this after 1.5 rounds of P90x. Time is why I crossfit.
Today I Walked 2mi at lunch
5 handstand holds 10 seconds ea
6x6 bench press
No matter how slow you go, you're still lapping everyone on the couch.
Awesome! Thanks! I will start after our ski trip next week.
Today was a tough 12.2-mile bike ride, very very hilly
Plus 2000m rowing
Looking forward to tomorrow!!
