I forgot to add that I made myself today really good juice - tomatoes, cucumber, green leaf lettuce, red and green pepper , and small spicy pepper, and ginger. It was spicy and really good.

does the chilli take away the taste of the cucumber juice? I love cucumber whole but not juiced for some reason. I would like to include it in juices but need to disguise it.
I finished out Day 1 with not one slip! This may not seem like a lot, but after failing to even get through a whole day of many prior "cleanses", "detoxes" and "fasts", it's nice to feel that itty-bitty sense of accomplishment again. I know that feeling will get stronger and stronger as I proceed.
Tried juicing a sweet potato tonight with my "dinner juice"- yum! It was so creamy, I felt like I was breaking my fast, but I wasn't! So filling, too. I was actually invited to get dinner with friends, and took them up on the offer, minus the food part. I juiced up my sweet potato, cabbage, carrot and pineapple, put it in a bottle, and accompanied them to a restaurant. I wasn't the least bit tempted, and still had a great time with them. Of course they were making fun of me the whole time, but I just laughed with them and owned it. When planned and handled correctly, I don't think this experience has to be "isolating" at all, as some people have said.
Used a lot of papaya in my juices today. I'd never had fresh papaya before, but they were on sale, and I thought, "Why not?" Turns out they are very unusual: juicy and sweet, but also salty and slightly savory. They added a lot of depth to the taste of my drinks. I love trying new things, so I'm glad that this fast is already opening my eyes to new tastes and experiences.
Had a bit of a headache, so I'm sipping some chamomile tea. Pretty sure I was just thirsty. I'll down a nice glass of water before bed as well.
Can't wait for Day 2!
I had headache on day two. It's supposedly a symptom of onset of ketosis. I know I wasn't dehydrated as my urine was clear. I didn't drink as much water yesterday as I feel I should have but then again, it was still about 5 pints. I take 3 x 1.5 litre bottles of water with me to work everyday. I need one of those bottle carriers.
MysticTree - to be honest I do not know if it takes away the whole cucumber taste or not, because I always mix my cumbers with other veggies and this taste mixes. I really like tomato juice, so this was my base.
littlecress - Congratulations!! first day is the worst ( well maybe 2 and 3 but U got the courage to stay "foodless" the whole day, even in restaurant !
I cant believe how fast this time goes. It is almost day 4 wow ! I was not going to weigh myself but I been tempted do start doing it twice a week ( like before)
I haven't given up on cucumbers when it comes to juicing but I need to find the right "note" to fix the bum one that my palate detects in the cuc juice.
Feeling a bit wobbly now. Maybe it's because I am on lunch break but not eating. Will break to juice tomorrow or maybe this evening - i'll see how I feel later on the way home from work. Really pleased with the overall vibe I have had from this (almost) 4 day period.
Way to go little cress, your on your way to a successful fast, youve gotten past the hardest part.
What seemed to help me was:
I started to notice how many food commercials and adverts there are. It made it obvious how brainwashed everyone is to food instead of making me want to eat the trash I saw.
The first couple days I was struggling to keep my self busy enough to keep my mind off eating but what really helped was watching all the documentaries about juice fasting and raw food diet on Netflix.
A few of my favorites are: Fat Sick and Nearly Dead (watched this at least 10 times), Forks over Knives, The Gerson Miracle, and Food Fight.
Hope this helps.
MysticTree, thats what I call will power, good on you. I too was getting wobbly when I was working in the yard yesterday but I made a cucumber, carrot, celery, apple 32.oz juice and lost the jitters. Im learning to down some juice even when not hungry to get those antioxidants flowing. It gives me a buzz I think, Does anyone else get that feeling? As for the cucumber taste good luck on that, I have learned to just down it in one after many tries to disguise the taste of cucumber
Day 4 and I'm still going strong, Good fasting to all.
It's the morning of Day 2. I told myself I wasn't going to weigh until the whole thing was over, but I was curious... and GOOD LORD. In just one day, I weigh 6 pounds less. 6! I am well aware that most or all of it will come back when I resume eating, but those drastic numbers are plenty of evidence for me that whatever is going on in my body is pretty cool. Just juiced up some romaine lettuce, papaya, carrot, and lime, and I'm ready for another great day! Good luck, everyone!
as long as you are well hydrated then that expected gain post fast should - according to my sources - be minimal :)
I haven't needed will power really. Only will power not to take pain killers for the headache on day two. The feeling of wobblyness I feel would go if I had a sleep. Maybe it wouldn't. Tomorrow I will start on juices though. I have no real feel for which sort of juice I should try first. My body is not giving me any clues but I will stand in the produce isle and wait for inspiration!
Wow we are rocky RAW in October. I saw a video with a great juice that had sweet potato. Sweet potato, beet, apple and ginger. It looked so good.
Mystic, I am with you on cucumber juice.
BF was romaine orangesin the blender.
Snack 1 dragon fruit
lunch - avacado, bananna mash with honey.
I bought carrots, apples, oranges, beetroot on the way home. I have identified the sensation I am feeling. It is like bad motion sickness. Any resonate with that? I'm thinking I should have got ginger too.
Sweet potato is my current favorite thing to juice! I'm out of them right now, so I'm gonna run to the store tonight to restock =) That juice sounds awesome! I might just have to try it.
