Vegetable quanity for Ounces?

Quantity of vegatables for Ounces

Hi

I am trying to drink a specific number of daily juices that are idenfitied by Dr. Norma Walker.

I have figured that I need the indicated ounces for each vegetable weekly. I need to know how much of each vegetable to buy to supply the ounces indicated.

1.(210 ounces) Medium to large carrots ? ___________

2.(70 ounces) if baby leaf spinach how many bunches ______
if large leaf spinach how many bunches _____

3.(28 ounces) celery... How many stalks? _______

4.(14 ounces) parsley.... How many bunches _______

5.(21 ounces) small to med. beet root. How many _______

6. 21 ounces) cucumber small to med,. How many_________

If anyone can give you a definite answer to this, I'd be surprised. Depends on where it's grown, how it's grown, the size, how much juice your juicer can get out of each.... too many variables. BUT! Have fun!

Are you talking about liquid ounces or solid ounces? Just weigh them on the scales in the shop. From those quantities you should be able to experiment for average amounts needed for fluid ounces.

Thanks for your initial input. For clarification, the answer does npt have to be exact... If it is over, then I will just make more juice...smile... if under then I will get more when I have used more than half after 3 days. Just trying to get some ball park estimate from those who have been doing juicing longer than me...

I live in Jeddah...and most of my vegetable come from a chain super market here.

I think you are on to something. You should, for example, be able to weigh a lb of carrots, then weigh the pulp afterward and see how much juice you got out of it. If you keep good records it may be that you will see a trend developing.

Yeah if you are talking about liquid ounces that is definitely going to vary per vegetable as all are not made equal. I have for some time now been measuring the amount of liquid ounces I get from specific vegetables and fruits for the juice cleanse recipes I make. These do vary, but for what you are asking about I could give you an approximation to convert chopped cups of the vegetable or fruit over to liquid ounces. You could then chop up the vegetables you are looking into and see for yourself what for example a medium to large carrot would convert to.

If you want to look for yourself you can go to our website through the link in my signature and check out the juice cleanse recipes there. In the "if you want something more precise version of each recipe I have laid out the approximate amounts of chopped cups of the fruit or vegetable juiced them and then recorded how many ounces of juice I got from that amount. I use an omega 8004 nutrition center which is a masticating type juicer, so the precise amounts per juicer type could vary some. Maybe that will help you have an approximation of the amounts you are looking for.

I get anywhere between 2-3 ounces per cup of chopped carrots, For the rest you can look through the recipes if you like and get the averages as they tend to vary a bit more I believe. Parsley is the only one you listed that I have not used a whole lot in the listed recipes as of yet. Hope that is of some help and good luck with your juice regimine!

This is one instance where volumetric measurement is less helpful. A cup of chopped carrot is less of an indicator than say a pound and a half of carrots.

Yea converting precise weight over to liquid ounces would yield a more definitive measurement for sure. Also you can't exactly chop up a cup of carrots at the grocery store before buying them...lol . You could always weigh the vegetable before hand and then bring it home and chop it up for volume measurement, but by then it would probably be easier in your case to just juice it up and measure it for weight to liquid ounce conversion.

I don't know where you live, but you can buy the clear measuring cups at most grocery stores, bulk mega stores or kitchen appliance stores. They also sale them at dollar stores around here. You could get a measurement for yourself by buying that stuff you mentioned, noting the weight, taking it home, juicing it and then pouring it into your measuring cup to convert over to liquid ounces.
