considering not cleaning my juicer every time

So I got my manual grass juicer the other night. I have used it 3 times and so far my chief complaint is the fact that the pulp outlet is really hard to clear, because the auger does not go clear to the end. So far I have been using a large plastic spoon handle as a ram rod and hitting it with a hammer, but this morning I couldn't even clear it with that. I hat to use a knife to dig out the end. then I was able to clear it by hitting the ram rod with a hammer.
Since it is a pretty compact little unit that would fit in the drawer of my fridge, I am considering not cleaning it every time. I am thinking about just removing the auger/ crank section and cleaning that. Then refrigerating the main body between uses and only cleaning it a couple times a week.

Crumbs. Mine comes apart at the aperture end. Cleaning is easy. I can't imagine having to hit it with a hammer! What make is yours?

there are several design problems, but it was cheap, it does work and it is very sturdy!

I had looked at that one but decided on a different one. MT and I have the same one and I'm very happy with ours. The only part that doesn't clean very well is the mesh screen that the juice flows into. I like pulpy juice though so I just dump it in my juice. I think I need to get a toothbrush to leave in the kitchen!

The space where the juice comes out needs to be lined up carefully and you have to be careful when you pour the juice out. I haven't had difficulty with cleaning the screen but I find it too open so certain juices needs extra straining.

Just curious - have you tried contacting the company and asking them about this? Perhaps they have a time saving tip that will help with cleaning it easier?

Just a pipe cleaner might be a help.

My best guess is I am really not supposed to feed as much material through at one time as I have been, but the pulp is really coming out dry this way so what the heck!

No, but I'm thinking of going to the hardware store to pick up a piece of re-bar! you can rap that stuff with a hammer pretty good!

I am not beating on the juicer. I am just using a rod to shove the clog out of the opening. I assure you it would not have come out otherwise.

Was it the popcorn that was the worst culprit? Maybe cutting it up smaller would be a good idea. I've not juiced maize yet but it sounds an interesting idea. We don't get the best corn cob growing weather here but it's good enough for growing the plant for juicing. How thickly did you sow your maize?

There is a balance to be reached, I think. I can pull a few of those long leaves of the plant and feed them through that way. But I was enjoying feeding the whole plant in at once. The more you feed through at once the dryer it comes out the other side. Though perhaps I could find a flow rate that still gets all the juice out, but doesn't jam things up so much. I have only had the juicer since Friday night so I'm sure I will get better at this than I am now.

I tried to go about two inches apart in ten inch rows. I would thing you have optimum weather for growing it for juice. The hot rapid growing weather tends to make it a little less juicy, I think.

does it taste like sweetcorn? I'm quite keen to try it.
