It doesn't get much better then that. If you want optimal health everyone should be drinking a minimum of 32 oz of sprout juices daily - work your up slowly, though, they are very potent and it will make you sick to drink so much at once (very powerful detoxifiers).Quote:
Wow! what a nutritious juice
I'm experimenting and am going to be fasting on green juices and algae for the next few days, so this is everything I've had to eat so far today:
* Barleygrass juice (16 oz)
* sunflower green juice (16 oz)
* fenugreek sprout juice (8 oz)
* alfalfa sprout juice (8 oz)
* clover sprout juice (8 oz)
* AFA "juice"
* kelp "juice"
* spirulina "juice"
I feel AMAZING!!! :woot:
I'm really looking forward to the next few days. I only wish that the weeds around here weren't so tough and fibrous now so I could have lots of weed juice too.
QUESTION : a friends in hospital with serious esophogus problem . the flap type part that closes off lungs fron esophogus isnt working correctly so whats ingesteds leaking into lungs . thusly cant drink or eat , has had tube inserted into stomach to be fed that way . and its long term like months . so question is would hospital allow raw juices - nut / seed milks to be used with this tube feeding method ?? if so what would be best ??
this is a 50 year old life time alchohloic , thats also smoked a whole bunch and for a few years taken a whole bunch of pain killers that contained tylenol . just so you know that patient so can customize the juice if so choose . aleesha / good cat if this in wrong area delete and i'll redo , just posted here because a few sharpies frequenting this thread and wanted to make sure they saw it
I have no idea if the hospital will allow it or not, but you should try to get them to - the food given to you in hospitals is absolutely horrible.
Probably it would be better to start more with nut/seed milks and less juice, as the patient sounds like someone who could have some serious detox symptoms if he had too much juice at first (a few glasses of fruit/veggie juice will be fine...it would be best if you could get sprout juices into him, but I suppose that's too much to ask for? I also don't think that fruit should be juiced, but probably many will disagree). The hospital staff - who of course know everything when it comes to health - would probably oppose something as "extreme" as a juice fast. And if he started detoxing they would probably claim that the regime was weakening his immune system (because you need Frankenstein creations specially formulated in a lab to get all the nutrients you need, of course) and making him sick.
Also, it would be best if the juicing/blending was done at the hospital right before feeding it to him to prevent oxidation, but again it's better to give him oxidized juices or milks/smoothies then to have him force-fed SAD junk. If the juices cant be made right at the hospital then you should stick with nut/seed milks and smoothies as they oxidize much slower then juices.
If the hospital staff won't get in the way, a wonderful way to get nutrition into a person with a compromised digestive system is wheatgrass implants. Somewhere in Ann Wigmore's autobiography she describes how she cured a woman who had a specific type of cancer so severe that she couldn't eat anything by giving her daily or twice-daily wheatgrass implants after enemas. They work wonders because they are absorbed directly into the bloodstream.
Alcoholics do serious damage to their livers, and the liver is one of the most important (arguably the most important, although it's hard to tell because there are numerous organs that you would die without) organ in the body. Milk thistle extract is a well-known supplement that is very effective in helping the liver regenerate itself - and regenerate itself it can. The liver is the only organ in the body that can have only one cell left and have it grow into an entirely new, healthy liver. Recently while searching for a good seed company to buy sprouting seeds in bulk form I found a site that sells organic milk thistle seeds - if you could get lots of that juice into him it may very well save his life. I have no idea if there might be a severe healing crises though. It also doesn't explicitly say if they are viable or not, but you could email the company and ask.
Beet juice is particularly good for the liver. Here's some recipes for supporting your liver:

There are numerous other threads on juices for liver support on this forum that you could search for.
I'm sure you know that I'm a proponent of sprout juices first, foremost, and always. But if you can't find a way to get him started on sprout juices (which frankly may be the most important thing he can do for his health) and even mix up sprout smoothies to put in his feeding tube then vegetable juices are still far better then the alternative. But please sprout, not just soak, all nuts and seeds if you end up giving him nut/seed milks. His digestion will be weaker anyway because digestion starts in the mouth and he can't gain the benefit of that. And he will really need all of the nutrients that he can get. So sprout everything if possible.
Your options are very limited for as long as he remains in a hospital setting. I may give you more suggestions tomorrow when I have more time.
Lots of fresh orange juice!
Luckily I've never had to stay in a hospital for an extended length of time, so I really don't know how realistic some of my suggestions are. The chance of him being able to get wheatgrass implants at your average hospital, for example, is extraordinarily slim - virtually nonexistent I would think. I'm just throwing everything I can think of that might help out there.
thanx so much livingfood , this gives me ideas for now and after release from hospital
next step tomorrow asking hospital staff the rules in this matter
thank you
Wheatgrass and buckwheat greens are both very good for the liver also, as are basically all green sprouts. Just start him off very slowly with them and only use buckwheat in moderation.
Garlic, onions, leeks, and chives are also good for supporting your liver. The best way to gain those benefits would be to drink garlic (or onion, leek, chive) sprout juice, but the seeds are very expensive so normal garlic would be better then nothing.
1/2 bag fresh spinach
Handful of carrots
banana
an orange
left over mandarin oranges from salad
