I'm starting a juice/blend fast, and I bought myself the Vitamix 4500, and I love the blender so far.
I'm new to this whole juice/blend world, and I was wondering if anyone could share any good blender type juices/smoothies recipes to make from veggies/fruits?
Also, I made one recipe that a friend gave me which consisted of apples, kale, carrots, parsley, and apple cider. At first it came out too thick so I ended up adding ice and some water to liquify it more. However, one question I have is how do I balance the amount of water to the amount of veggies/fruit? I don't want to end up putting to much water in, and then not having the right portion of veggies/fruit.
In my book, Smoothies and Smoozies, I tell my readers that recipes are only guidelines. There's no "have to". What's "too much water?" There's no "right proportion"... it's what YOU like and what makes it edible/drinkable for you! Play with your food; don't over-think it.
Also, you can find hundreds of recipes here and other places on the web. Follow the recipes you do find since they have been tested and the ratio is pretty good. Go onto the Vita Mix site. They have lots of proven recipes.
Another bit of advice I gave another new member is that if you are starting a juice fast, you need to have as much info as you can. Read and study about it first and wait until you have recipes you like. Nothing worse than starting a fast and then not knowing what to make.
You need to be prepared. Good luck.
