is that easy sprout plastic? I prefer to use glass for my sprouts..
also mr raw, I think you said you couldn't get broccoli sprouts either....you could grow some broccoli and let it go to seed....not sure if they are biennial or not
Yes they are plastic so not so appealing to glass lovers. I guess ideally I would prefer glass too but the easysprouts allow me to grow so many sprouts so easily that it's a no brainer for me. I've tried the biosnacky jar, glass jars, bags and terracotta plates and the time factor and spoilage rate is so much higher. I also fully expect to be using the very same easysprout containers for the rest of my life!
Aren't all the auto sprouting machines built from plastic?!
yep - which is why we're using glass jars, lol!
yesterday was culture day - put up kim chi, 2 kinds of kraut, sauerruben, and sour beets (recipes from "wild fermentation" book).
Today is sprout day, going to start alfalfa, clover, broccoli, chives, mung, mustard......can't wait to see how mustard sprouts taste in a sandwich with onion bread....
I am so excited! Lol my first time sprouting ..I sprouted alfalfa and chickpeas both came out really good and how fun! Just a quick question ..do I storethe chickpeas in frig and how long do they last? Thanks!
mr raw,
did you ever sprout soy beans?
Aren't the majority of soybeans GMO these days? I would think it will be hard to find non GMO to actually sprout.
Thanks for all the info on sprouting. I'm going to start sprouting later this week in glass jars. I have alfalfa, peas, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, chia seeds and rye to sprout.
Next month I plan on adding Amaranth, mung, lentils, millet, barley, quinoa, broccoli and fenugreek. Eventually I hope to grow baby leaf lettuce and spinach along with wheatgrass in our spare bedroom. I'm looking forward to growing a nice portion of our food!
That's the problem with Soy Beans. So yes, another couple of months of research and talking to people all over the country. Raw food research seems to never end....tracing good supplies takes alot of effort and time.
Since i'm now in a good position to tell whether a sprouted food has a positive effect [or not] on my mind and body, l will be able to tell whether regular organic sprouted soy beans has a positive effect or not. l can trust myself alot more now because l can feel the effects of every food l take. Eating mono meals has great advantages.
I always store my sprouted stuff in the fridge. They should last a few days but its best to consume them ASAP!
I'm in love with sprouted quinoa! Its even better than cooked quinoa. Still havent had success with millet. Not sure whats wrong with it! What about red kidney beans Mr.Raw?
I'm amazed that my mung beans are already sprouted! Soaked them yesterday, let them breath last night, and today - they are growing.
Are they ready to sprinkle on salads?
I know how to do little sprouts, but not biggies, lols! I know mung are sensitive to light and will not taste good if grown long without seclusion....
I'm not ready for mr. raws sprout smoothies.....what else to do with them?
