I had been raw in the past, but now have a large family, there are 7 of us in the house. I want to be raw again but am afraid of the cost. Do others think it is compareable?

I think it depends on what you have been eating and where you have been shopping. My husband and I recently became 100% raw, and our grocery bill has gone up, but then we had to stock up on nuts and seeds which are kind of expensive. And we are not very careful or thrift-conscious about what we buy. I have noticed that we spend a lot less on the weeks we manage to make it to the farmers market because veggies are usually quite a bit cheaper there. I've also heard that if you get to your farmer's market shortly before they close, you can get a deal on produce that the farmers don't want to have to haul home with them. So, I'd say that it's possible to do raw a lot cheaper (especially if you tend to eat out a lot), but it might require a bit more planning and hunting for good produce deals. It sure doesn't hurt to give it a go!
We rarely ever go out to eat. We eat fairly healthy as far as sad. I make most things from scratch as it is. We also have 2 family members that need gluten free. So, I suppose nuts would replace flours..... LOL That would be ok, I suppose....

Learn how to sprout microgreen or any sprout. It cost pennies. You can buy in bulk. Wild edible plant are free. If you can, grow your garden if not, look for a farmer market in your area, you can find many good deals.
If you do mainly vegetables, greens and fruits it would be highly beneficial for you.

There is just me, but my grocery bill has gone up. I do buy some organics on the top 15 highly sprayed list. I was not much of a meat eater so the increase doesn't severely damage my budget. I do use some convenience itesm like raw hummus that can get pricey and kombucha occasionally.
There is an ebook on the site that focuses on doing raw on a budget. Maybe do a banana search.
Like the other feedback, farmers' markets are great--fresh and money saving. I am growing a lot of my own produce (well as soon as they grow and produce a crop).
Overall I see the benefits I have eating raw far outweigh the increase to my grocery bill.
