I own a Vitamix and use it daily. What would the advantage be to also purchasing a juicer? Isn't the use of a Vitamix healthier?

Juice makes a very nice change from the thicker drinks and smoothies that you can do in the Vitamix. Also, if you get a suitable juicer, you could make your own wheatgrass juice if you want to --that's something you can't make in a vitamix.
I bought these pieces of equipment in the opposite order from you -- I already had a juicer when I bought my vitamix. I love them both but I use the vitamix every day, often several times, whereas I might use the juicer once or twice a week. If I could only have one, it would definitely be the vitamix.

A Vita-Mix lets you keep in the fibre, whereas a juicer will take much of the fibre out. We have a juicer, and it just makes... well, juice. You can't do smoothies in it.
I agree with lily... if you only have one, make it a blender of some sort. You get the added benefits of fibre and thickness than you can't get from a juicer (but if you're really into juice, you might want to have both).
Well said....Lily and PomegrantePip..............
I have a vitamix, a champion juicer, and a green power juicer. Each has something that it really does well that the others don't. Of the three I like my vitamix the best especially for a cantaloupe smoothie with ice. But when I want carrot juice I use the champion or when I want celery juice I use my green power -- you see what I mean ?
I use my Vitamix every day for green smoothies. Today I used my Champion to make my daughter this wonderful cranberry, grape, raspberry juice. Just for fun.....
for me i would just use water and the fruit/vegi in the vitamix then strain it if wanted juice . i do the same with wheat grass juice in a blender . plus using the water / blender / straining method your produce goes much farther then with a juicer .
Theres a saying that goes like this: "make your juicer your drug store". That says a lot about the best place to get nutrients. Don't get me wrong I sure like smoothies thats why I have a vitamix.

Has anyone else here used a blender to make wheat grass juice? If so, how did it work?
all i do , in a cheap 30$ blender , is fill it half full with water .
then cut off at soil level about 200 strands of like 4" tall wheat
grass with scissors . then i cut the grass im holding tightly in
a bunch up into like half in long bits right into blender . if dont
cut up theyll bog the blender down . then i blend for a minute .
then let sit around 10 minutes to allow nutrients to seep out
of grass . then strain , and CHEERS  .
some people squeeze lemon juice into it to change/improve taste .
Thanks Michigan Roman! I have been buying wheat grass shots at the health food store for years, but it's not possible to go there daily. I can't wait to to try wheat grass juice in the blender at home so it can (hopefully) become a part of my daily diet.
Why can't I use my blender to Juice my Grass?
Steve Meyerowitz, in "Wheatgrass, Nature's Finest Medicine" explains it this way:
"The wheatgrass juicer is actually a screw press. Unlike conventional vegetable juicers that tear or cut vegetable fibers into tiny fractions, the grass juicer presses and squeezes the pulp, much like wringing the wetness out of your laundry. Conventional juicers are simply not designed to handle the woody, ligneous fibers of grass and , besides, they operate at such high speeds, sensitive enzymes would oxidize immediately. Regular juicers destroy the nutritional value of grass, but that's not all... are also unworkable. The green blades will wrap around the steel blades strangling your blender to death. Even if it survives, the high speed blades aerate and heat up the grass, and don't make much juice anyway."
The manual juicer I sell on my site is the best, I think, around. And I am offering 25% off right now on cut grass.....deliverd overnight right to you.
