Pommegranate juice tastes fantastically sweet with a refreshing hint of sour, when done correctly.
I think the seeds and the skin are the things that make it bitter, and you have to disgard them to have all the sweetness (if you do, the taste will be so delicious, you really don't need to add anything else).
I like it way better as a juice, than eating it as is.
I found a rather easy and mess free method on the internet, you don't need a juicer... But you do need a little patience. It's worthwhile though.
Hmmm, I cannot find that link anymore. This is how it goes:
- roll the pommegranate as is over a hard surface, you can hear/feel how the seeds get squeezed and release their juice
- make a small cut at the top, then hold the pg over a glass and squeeze it, the juice will come out
- repeat a couple of times (rolling and squeezing) to get all the juice out, you need 2 for a big glass
Enjoy!
Wow, what a great link! Thanx!
i cut off the very top of the skin, but i do not waste any seeds believe me lol. after that i put pressure on the skin just enough to break the skill around the middle of the pomegranate, and then i just pull it apart. then i just eat the seeds :) it's similar to the link but i just do it around the middle instead of so many little cuts.
Did you add the white membrane to the juice?
If you don't have other juice to blend it with and you've NOT added the membrane and it's STILL bitter, add some agave.
