Wheatgrass in a Centrifuge Juicer?

I have been getting my fresh wheatgrass from the juice bar at Wild Oats...which is a little time consuming to stop in every day...! (of course it's only been 4 days that I've done this)

I have a nice Omega centrifuge juicer at home which I dearly love, but can I put wheatgrass in it and get the same results?

Buying another juicer just for wheatgrass isnt something I can do right away. Would it work to throw the wheatgrass into my current juicer until I can find another solution, or would it just be a waste of wheatgrass?

My understanding is that you need a twin gear.

I have a manual juicer I sell for $42.95 It's one of the Lexen Healthy Juicers.
It will juice all greens.

hey there! Can you review the lexen for me? I've done some googling, but I'd like to hear from someone who's used it. Is it difficult to use? Does it clamp down to the counter? IS it easy to clean? How much effort is expended to yield 4 ounces of juice? Does it really handle wheat grass as well as leafy greens? Can I buy it from you? LOL- that's it for now! :p

I'm looking for a juicer and it seems that the best is single auger for greens and centrifugal for fruits and things like carrots. I can't do $300-400 now, but I'm thinking (after lots of late night searching the L'equip mini and this lexen might do the trick for only about $150. IF I'm wrong please stop me!

I agree with you about the best juicer for WG and greens being a single auger and also I think the twin gear juicer does a great job on WG and other greens. However IMO, a centrifugal juicer is not the best choice for carrots etc as it oxidizes the nutrients. I prefer a slower turning mastication type of juicer that uses gravity rather then a high speed centrifugal that forces the juice up and through a screen. The Champion is an example of a slower turning mastication juicer that cuts and juices without as much oxidation. Thats my opinion and preference when it comes to juicers.

Do you think the champion juices carrots, cukes and other soft fruits well? I'm hearing the single augers aren't good for carrots specifically, but also for softer fruits. My head is going to explode!

I do some soft fruits in my Champion, for example I like to put a carrot through followed by some tomato followed by carrot followed by tomatoe etc and that works nicely. But I especially like to do soft veggie and fruits in my vitamix, for example bananas. IMO the best equipment for soft produce is the blender or the cutting knife. Good luck and whatever decision you make isn't as important as all raw is.

I have been raw for about two years now. I feel good. I've tried variations (811, high fat, no nuts etc.) and I'm jsut not getting there. I am going to try a juice fast to see if my symptoms are eliminated. My friend who is a naturopath and is 100% raw things my problem may be too much fiber for the extent of damage I had to my gut. I didn't think there was such a thing as too much fiber. I was living on green smoothies for months. However...I can't live like this. So...enter juicing. Hopefully by reoving fiber (as counter-intuitive as that feels) I can stay raw AND heal. I have a vitamix, but I'm letting it take a bit of a rest as soon as I settle on a juicer. We'll see and thanks for your opinion.

I havn't been all raw nearly as long as you have. I went 100% all raw on Aug 1st and I fell into it as easy as a fish falls into water as it just feels so right. I already had almost everything I needed except for some small stuff as a result of being a health conscious person since the early 1980's with a keen interest in Natural Hygiene. Since going all raw 88 days ago I have experienced the kind of results I have been seeking all these years. I have improved energy, mental clarity, and sleep better and as a side benefit I have lost a "spare tire" without trying as my body works to perfect itself as nature intended. For me the key was to listen carefully to my body and promptly assist in its efforts to become healthier. Best of luck in your journey.
