I just got my new Green Star juicer. Haha, my mom says it looks like a robot. Anyway, It does a good job with apples and carrots so far, but the spinach gave me A LOT of foam. Do I have to adjust the knob a certain way? I havn't used the fruit knob yet. It gave me a lot of spinach flavor though, but I'd prefer no or minimal foam. I know a lot of people have said that there is less foam with the GS when it does greens. Am I doing something wrong here?
I assume that you are talking about the knob at the front.
I never adjust mine. I leave it fully in.
I never juice leaves on their own as I always have celery and cucumber as well and I do get some foam. I strain the juice in to a glass and then place the strainer (with the foam in it) back on top of the jug.
By the time that I have finished the glass of juice the foam has settled and I can drink the remainder.
Play with the knob and find out. I was always adjusting mine.
I made my spinach-carrot juice with my greenstar the other day and I only got about half of the juice that I usually get when making it with my Juiceman..It was good but I can't believe I hardly got any juice for all the vegetables I used

Maybe your carrots were a bit older than usual. They do dry up very quickly.Quote:

juice commercialy, are doing this in order to prevent foam.
they do it after there is the signal of (to much) foam.

I use a little flax oil and it takes care of the foam.
Ya know, as I was juicing I thought back to the video I saw online and how they said to put some oil on the gears. I forgot to do that and never made the connection to the lack of oil and foam. I'll be sure to do this next time. Thanks.
This will probably leave some oil residue in your wheatgrass juice which may effect your digestion and absorbsion of the nutrients as it will cause other digestive enzymes to be generated.
I've had a greenpower / greenstar for 2 years. If you juice leaves, your going to get foam. They key is to use a hard vegetable in between clumps of spinach. What I do is stuff a bunch of spinach in there, push it through, then a carrot and repeat the process. It's still a bit foamy, so I add a little water and stir. It's still as strong as hell. I've never heard of the oil trick.
