Green Star vs. Champion

Any opinions on the two? I just saw the specs. and ratings on them. Apparently the green star provides more juice and less pulp. It also keeps the juice fresher due to the magnets.

I know the Green Star is expensive, but I'd like a juicer that lasts a LONG time, provides the most nutrients, least amount of pulp, etc. I want to make it an investment that'll stay with me for a long time!

Basically it's a twin gear vs. a masticating juicer. Any idea the main difference, benefits, negatives to the two?

I'm reading reviews now saying that those who have had a Champion and Green Star the Green Star outweighs the Champion by far, however the Green Star is more difficult to clean.

Help!? lol I want to make a wise decision!

I have the Green Star and I really like it. After a few times I got the hang of cleaning it and it really doesn't take too long. The trick is using the pointed end of the cleaning brush tool to scrape the pulp out of the screen. Once you loosen it up the brush takes care of the rest. I use to spend a long time scrubing every part, but found that just rinsing works well on many of them.

I know there are easier to clean juicers out there, but I think the benefits outweigh the extra few minutes of cleaning.

I got a good deal on the Green Star at www.2-life.com, It was about a year ago, but they had the best prices I could find and no sales tax. You have to "request a wholesale coupon" to get the best price. I believe they email you the price and a coupon code to use while purchasing.

ok good thing come in threes, right? I also have a GStar and I love it. Our two year old loves to make juice with it--so easy and the cleaning ,as stated above, no big deal. LEt us know what you decide....

Can't go wrong with the Green Star. Even do raw nut butters in mine--wonderful. Worth the cost hands down.

i have had both a champion and a greenstar juicer. i loved my champion, but i dropped it when i was moving out of my dorm and so i threw it out. i recently bought a greenstar, and i do have to say i love it way more than my champion. juicing fruit can be a pain, but you have to do it correctly. the greenstar is soooo quiet! with my old champion, i hardly ever juiced because it would wake my roommate...so i never really did it, except for when she was out of the room. cleaning isn't really all that bad with the greenstar. it's about the same as a champion, except that there are more parts. it doesn't take too long, at first i was intimidated, but after i finished it really didn't seem as bad as people say. i got my old champion from fruitful yield for $270 and i got my greenstar 2000 from http://www.vitalityplus1.com for $340 with an extra optional fruit knob. i did have to price match though. the price was actually supposed to be $360, but another website was offering it for $355 with free optional soft fruit knob. vitalityplus1 offers a $10 less price match, but that's only if you pay with check--if you pay with credit card it's only $5 less. you do have to order through the phone. i talked to bryon who is really really nice. good luck with the juicer!

Never owned a Champion. I own a Green Star plus many More.

Thanks everyone! Um, when you say it doesn't do fruit well (which I've read other customers say as well) what does that mean? I juice a lot of fruit though. Does the special fruit nob help with this problem?

bumping! I now know I can get the Champion for $199.95 at my store and the Green Star 1000 for $399.99.

I assume the Champion gives more juice than a centrifugal juicer? Maybe I can take a step up and then get the Green star later??

Dream - As I understand it, all centrifugal juicers hold the pulp inside. That means they need to be cleaned often, unless at the time you're only making a glass or so worth of juice. The Champion expels the pulp while juicing. I may eventually get a Greenstar.. if my Champion ever decides it wants to go to juicer heaven. But it shows no sign of that. After nearly 30 years, it stubbornly lives. :p

do yourself a favor, wait till you have the money and get a greenstar

the reason why i said that the greenstar doesn't juice fruit at well is because i didn't really know how to use it. how much fruit you feet into the juicer. when i tried juicing grapefruit, the juice would seep out of places that it shouldn't. that was when i didn't use the soft knob, but then again the soft knob looks exactly like the the regular knob. i do think the knob makes a difference (not which one you use, but how much you let it open). the put was very dry with the greenstar compared to the champion, but you could always feed the pulp back into the both machines for maximum juice yield. if i were you, i would save my money for a greenstar, because on day you will regret not being able to juice greens. the champion doesn't juice greens very well....it does give off alot of foam. i personally haven't juiced any greens yet with the greenstar, but i've heard many good things about it. i did notice that juicing with the greenstar did give a greater juice yield than the champion. hope this helps. good luck finding a juicer.

Thank you. I have made a decision. I have the money for a green star and I assume later in life even if I get a champion, I'll end up with a Green Star. Why not skip the extra $200 for the Champion right??

Look around, some will offer free shipping. I'd call and ask if you can have free shipping. Tell them you have a family of 10 who are starved :D
