Best Juicer?

Hey everyone!

I was just wondering what kind of juicers you all have? I really want to buy a good juicer for juicing greens and some fruit. I did have a champion juicer...I dropped it and the switch to turn it on and off broke...so I threw it out. I also have a juiceman juicer, but it's a horrible, horrible juicer.

What do you guys think about juicing? Are green smoothies better? I have a Vitamix, but the only greens I ever seem to use is spinach. I have heard that spinach can be bad for you because it messes with your thyroid. Is this true?

Does anyone here have a Greenstar or a Twin Health juicer? Or any twin gear juicer? I want to try the 92 day juice feast that Angela Stokes did. Does anyone know what kind of fruits and vegetables she used?

I have an Omega and a Champion. I tend to use the Omega more because it is alot easier to clean. Now I am getting more into green smoothies which I use an Oster blender for. But I do both.

I bought a Breville Juice Fountain. I think the brand is Australian (?). I've really loved it so far. It has a HUGE pulp container, and it's centrifugal, yet gets all the juice out--the carrot pulp is always dry and fluffy. :)

I got it at Bed Bath and Beyond, a store I don't really frequent, but I bought it using a 20% off coupon and got a great deal.

hey, send me the champion and i will buy a switch for it for 10 bucks. Anyway, I have one and I think cleaning it is no biggie, especially ifyou do it right away. I just run water over the parts. I actually heard Greenstars are harder to clean, but they juice greens better.

No scientific data on juicing vs. smoothie that I draw on. But I think juicing gets the nutrients in your system faster (easier assimliation for the body) but smoothies have more food stuffs in them and in the long run have more to offer. (I really don't know what I am talking about, but it sounds good)

Both juicing and smoothies are great for you. I find smoothies help me better right now because I am only 3 days old into 100% raw and they fill me up more. Sometimes just juice makes me more hungry and I like the extra fiber I get from the smoothies. After I get a better hold on this I will probably do more juicing again.

I thought that cleaniong Champion is easy(I use it every day for 7 months now), but I am comparing it just with Waring centrifugal juicer I had before. Did anyone had Solostar II juicer-how hard is to clean that one?

I love it. Much better than my old juicer, a centrifugal juicer. Now I get lots of juice from the foods, and they taste better too.

I juice everything from carrots to collard greens with this juicer with great success. Only thing I cannot juice successfully is tomatoes. Perhaps I am doing something wrong, but the tomatoes always come out like mush, and I can get very little juice fro the mush.

I juice pineapples, broccoli, turnips and beets, carrots, apples, citrus, greens, cucumbers, asparagus, you name it. It is wonderful with this juicer.

To take apart and clean, it takes about 60 seconds. To put it all back together, maybe 30 seconds. Very convenient, very easy to clean.

EDIT:
I got mine from livingright.com for about 200 bux with an instant rebate and free shipping. It was about the lowest price I could find, but maybe they are cheaper somewhere else. Also, some outlets sell used ones with warranties.

I wanted a green star juicer, but who has 400 bux? Too much for me. :(

for your money this thing rocks! has a blank for nut butter also. My model is 10 years old and the motor works as if new . Great for ALL juice types! does not harm the delicate stuff like them loud spinner juicers BUY THIS ONE!

also I found Craig’s list is helpful for the expensive stuff. I just bought a model 4000 commercial vita-mix for $200 bucks.

These things are beyond awesome and really quiet!

hey everyone!

thanks for your replies. i just received my greenstar 2000 yesterday. i bought it for a total of $345 w/ the extra fruit knob. does this sound like a good price or did i pay too much?

also, the whole machine looks so intimidating. i'm scared to take it apart and put it together. it came already put together, but i do wanna wash the parts before i juice. hopefully i'll get the hang of it soon.

has anyone tried angela stokes 92 day juice feast? i'd like your feedback on how it went/is going. thanks!

That is a much better price for that model of green star juicer than I am able to find, so I would have to say that it sounds like a very good price.

I haven't tried the juice feast, but am definitely considering it. It's fascinating.

Hope this helps. I am really impressed by my juicer. Many people complain about cleaning the juicer, but I have had a Champion juicer, and it is about the same, but with a little more parts. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask!

I have the old hippocrates juicer and I find it works great! Cleaning it is a bit of a bi&^h but I really can't complain. I make awesome ice creams with it and its great for chopping up soaked nuts into a 'flour'.

I've had my Champion for nearly 30 years and it refuses to die. It's soooo easy to clean. I don't know why others feel otherwise. But I'm glad you got the Greenstar. It takes high marks.
