I'm just finished sprouted wheatgrass and also alfalfa separately.
Here's a link: http://www.sproutpeople.com/grow/sprouting.html
They have steps written out there.
How I sprout:
In glass jar put the seeds, start with 1/4, wide mouth jar best
Have lid on the jar, and they sell these with holes at top, or cheesecloth which I don't like, can also use screen-stainless steel...
Let soak in water, I would say overnight
Rinse water in AM, then in PM, store in dark place...each day
When see life from the spouts, put in sunlight, but more like indirect, not to cook them but give them some light, a few hours before you are calling the process done.
I do prefer sprouting lids sold at health food store. They are colorful with holes of different sizes.
Good luck.

Yes. The spout people web site is awesome. Very, very informative. Good quality seeds too.
Hey thanks for the information. I went to the health food store in our town today and purchase some seeds and lids. I went to another store to get some mason jars. The website does have some great information. I am excited to try it out.
LENTILS and BUCKWHEAT are great for starting out. RAW, whole buckwheat might be harder to find, dont get the toasted buckwheat, the raw should be cream-colored with a slight greenish tinge. but anyway LENTILS are super-forgiving, you can sprout em in a bowl, you dont even need a jar. just soak overnight, drain and rinse, rinse once or twice a day, they start sprouting super-quick. my roommates used to just soak them and use them before they even got little tails on them. if you try one and its crunchy like a water chestnut or a sprout, instead of as hard as a rock, then its started to sprout. then you can make lentil salad or whatever out of them. buckwheat you can just soak and use or you can soak, drain and sprout it, but it requires more dedicated rinsing than lentils.
Glad you got the seeds. I have even bought jars, wide mouth, at thrift store. Never forgot others junk is your treasure.
Funny story: My husband went to the health food store for the white buckwheat. He came home with a packaged label saying white, but it was the brown kind. Surely it's going to be returned with no problem. They package their own, but still. WF calls them Kasha.
Let us know about your results. I have used colander too the day after soaking too.
