slower transition
hey, i did my raw 30 day challenge in august and i lasted only 28 though...than it got really hard not to binege so i fell back to my meat heavy diet which ive been on for a long time (though i just turned 20), my question is, i was thinking maybe im going to fast for myself and i was considering mostly raw but vegetarian, so like maybe 1 egg here and there and i read about kefir, and a bit of cottage or cheese goat cheeses because they dont irritate me as most dairy does, (i was highly intolerant to dairy as a child)...i know most just jump the on the wagon but i just fell like if im gonna make this work and try and commit to raw one day or as best i can i might have to ease my way...does anyone have any advice, and also what are the best "vegetarian" foods, im trying to find the raw dairy and i know tofu,soy is a bad no no also i wont eat grains,beans or any other "starches" im trying to stick to veggies and fruits as my carbs, never was a starch freak lol... well thanks to everyone!

Many people think that dairy and other animal products are worse than soy products for you.
Is the reason that you're considering vegetarian/vegan health alone?

Stay away from soy products, they can seriously mess you up. I am speaking frome experience. In fact, I think a little organic diary or eggs in transition is a better option then soy.

Have you tried making nut and seed cheeses? you can flavour them with your favourite herbs and spices. They keep for several days in the fridge.
I haven't had much success with nut yogurt, i have had several attempts but i haven't found a recipe that suits me yet!
Banana mylk and nut mylk are also good staples.
Are you in the habit of making dehydrator goodies?
I found that acceptance was my key to staying raw.
My goal is 100%. sometimes i reach it, sometimes i don't!
What i no longer do is beat myself up about it.
If i crave something, I ask myself if i want to go there. If the answer is yes, I eat a little then move on.
Adopting this approach takes the pressure off. ( The pressure I created when I set the goal!)
I find that if i know i can have those 'forbidden cooked foods' then i generally no longer want them!
Its simple and it works for me. It also helps offset those huge binges following a 'slip up'!
listen to your body, it will tell you what it needs........

First...this is a raw forum....most of us probably aren't going to offer any good advice about dairy or meat. :p LOL
However, my advice for you helping yourself stay raw is this:
Learn to listen to what your body is telling you about the foods. If you are craving something salty...fine chose something like nuts with a little spice of your choice and a small amount of sea salt. Or raw olives perhaps!
If you want something creamy...(sometimes it's a texture thing and not a taste thing as much)...make an avacado pudding.
If you want really sweet opt for RP's brownies. (Go to the recipe section of this site and you will find it floating around!)
Really listen to your body. It takes some learning, but when you give it what it's asking for...it's much easier to stay on track. It's much like trying to swim up stream without a paddle. You can, but it's much harder and the path isn't a very direct one...you get pushed around a bit. ;) If your goal is to be raw...stay on course...don't get side tracked by these cooked food cravings.
You can totally stay raw without those extra foods from the dairy isle. Try these suggestions before you give up on 100% raw or transitioning while adding these. I think adding these things might just make it a bit harder...then you will have something new to give up...that you just learned you like. Good luck!
