ps
im almost completely convinced my acne is hormonal, and that it flares up when i eat certain foods. i know this might not make sense..but coupled with all of the other problems ive been experiencing..it seems as that i have extreme reactions to my own hormones, and bad food (or..foods to which im intolerant) heighens this reaction. im actually flying down to austin, texas on dec 1 because i have an appt with a allergist that specializes in something called "hormone allergy." im 20 years old..and hormonal problems like this seem to set in around 20-25..especially after big shifts in hormones such as having kids or going off birth control (the later applies to me) here is his website: http://www.onlineallergycenter.com/home/ .. sungoddess it just made me think of you because your acne sounds a lot like mine so far as intensity, and i figured maybe you guys who think its hormonal maybe wanted to look at this link too.
thanks....It's nice with a little support - really!
Now I'll listen to some nice music and sing along.

I'm so happy that you are finding something that works for you. I would also like to try the chinese herbs if maca fails on me. Please keep us posted.
wow! It definitely sounds like ours are similar. I believe that mine is hormonal too, because the reason I started raw in the first place was hormonal problems. acnease.com... I will definitely be checking that out. First I am going to give 811 a bit more time all by itself, just so I can be sure of what is working and what is not. you know? But I am so glad you are finding relief!!!!!!!! Keep on updating! I am going to try and balance my hormones with herbs only if this low fat thing won't do it by itself. I struggle so much with bingeing episodes (on fruit or fat... never cooked thankfully) that is hard to let 811 do what it would be able to do if you know what I mean!Quote:

My chin acne has kind of lessened on 811, so maybe the lower fat is actually heloing my hormones.... I hope. It would be nice to not have to pay for lots of supplements. That is the beauty of raw, so I am trying to make that work! we'll see.
It's so funny because PCOS, which is what I have/had (who knows if its going away), is what made me start raw. They tell everyone with PCOS in the dr. office to go on a low carb diet and to exercise (which is almost impossible to do together). Grab a can of diet coke and u'll get better!!!! Yea right.
I have been eating bananas and papayas and dates (a little bit in excess) and I am still healing! ARGH!
Ahem.....without going in depth or embarressing anyone, could someone please tell me why they went on raw for hormonal reasons? I couldn't really understand what that meant as I was reading people suggest that acne was caused by hormonal issues. I was curious and feel free to e-mail me privately if you so wish.
I was about 98% raw yesterday. I woke up this morning with a bit of a sore tummy and uhh....intestinal issues.... :(
Today I have been 98% raw as well. I bring extra fruit and stuff to share with the toddler girls I nanny for because all their house is full of is packaged stuff. Hardly any fresh. They'll eat great if I share stuff with them.
I have to agree that working out does help a bit. But you have to wash well right away. Before I got adult ance on my face, I would break out on my back. I worked out 6 days a week for 2 hours a day (training) and would not take a shower right away. This led to horrible breakouts on my back. I would cry over it all the time (now I wish I could trade my back for my face). But I also know that toxins are released from your body through sweat. So, bring on the exercise....just remember to wash well afterwards! :p
I don't mind saying! I went raw to heal PCOS, which is polycystic ovarian syndrome, which is in essence a hormonal problem. Google PCOS if you want to read up on it.... its not a pretty diagnosis! But raw seems to be the answer!
Thanks Sungoddess. I'm going to Google it right now. :o
i went off birth control not last august but the august before and have only had about 4 periods since then, started to get migraines, have terrible back/neck/shoulder pain (which ive come to find out may actually be fibromyalgia (sp?)), and acne started..something i didnt have during my teens..and all of the above is hormone related (and all started when i stopped supplementing with artifical hormones). all of the above is also under control a lot, outside of acne, when im 100% raw. this acne thing is actually getting worse now. but the good news is (TMI maybe..so turn away if youre easily offended) that today was the first time i have gotten my period on time in 14 months, AND the first period ive gotten in 14 months (ive had maybe 4 total) that i didnt have ANY pms symptoms whatsoever (aside from acne i guess..but usually i have all the other symptoms you can possibly think of and for 1-2 weeks before actually getting it). SO..i know my bodys making progress.
i know its said we arent supposed to have a period on raw, but right now im hoping for just a normal period first, and then eventually to lose it.
...did that even answer your question? lol :o
