Weird/wise body of mine

Rate this Entry
Weird, but this time going raw (and that would be the fourth my body is behaving quite differently. The first time I went raw I was slightly underweight, but looked really scrawny... no muscles to speak of! I lost weight immediately, about 10 pounds and ate whatever raw food I wanted, with a heavy emphasis on the nuts and avocados. I was looking forward to gaining some weight back after the initial "loss of the false body" Now, after packing on the SAD 15lbs during my off the wagon time, I was looking forward to it falling right off as it has done before. NO GO! I got on the scales today, ever hopeful :) but in 2 weeks I have lost nothing. Weird, eh? Also, I've noticed that whenever I eat nuts I get super tired and lethargic. I've read that this happens to some raw folks, and it's odd that it is now happening to me.

I've been thinking though... My first thought is that because I actually want to loose the weight, my emotional state has shifted and it's preventing me from doing so. Before, I was more accepting of the changes happening. It's always easier to see the scales go down rather than up! Even though I wanted to gain a bit back, it didn't cause me grief. Now I've got grief!! I want those pounds GONE!! So maybe it's a mental thing?? I've been on enough diets to know your mind is really powerful!!

However, that doesn't really explain why I don't feel too well after eating them. Could I have developed a digestion issue with nuts that quick? I crave them, so I eat them, yes, soaked :) but I'm obviously not doing my body any favors! Maybe it has nothing to do with "this time around" and would have happened anyway as a natural progression into raw. I dunno!

So, today I bought some melons and grapefruits! I can trade the nuts for melons, a good exchange for me as I love 'em as much as nuts. Let's see what happens. :)

OH! And another weird thing... First time raw I had an avocado a day. Now I can't stand them. The taste is awful for me and the texture grosses me out. So it is clearly a fat issue and maybe this is just my bodies way of telling me to lay off the nut and avocado fats.

I did get some coconut oil, so I'm not without fats. My skin is so dry anyway, if I took out all fats I shrivel up like a raisin.

So it's all good, just need to listen to what my body is trying to tell me. That and maybe accept those extra inches around my butt and the roll that is, as I write, hanging over my jeans!

Hope you all are having a great day!

hehehheee.... I'm sure the 'roll' over your jeans is soo tiny -- but hey - a roll is a roll is a roll!!! ;) No worries Lisser - your body will adjust and change and change again -your taste buds will crave something one day - and despise it the next (like your avos!) Eating intutively has kinda always been your specialty... you've always been pretty in tune with what your body was needing... the weight will adjust... btw - have I told you today -- it's so great to have you posting again!!

I think our minds are more powerful than we think and many things are mind over matter. When you want to lose the weight it's much harder. hehehe Go figure huh? But I do know that are bodies are smarter then we are and know what we need. Our cravings change with our needs. If we listen to our bodies over our minds, this journey will run a lot smoother I think.

I know exactly how you feel about diets and the power of the mind, it can be tiresome sometimes. I found that positive visualization just before bedtime is very helpful for me - I wake up full of good energies for the rest of the day and I'm sure you would too :)
