All we need!!!

Starting at age 15 I've tampered with my hair color. I wanted any color except my own and would use any means available. It started with hydrogen peroxide from the medicine cabinet. I have inherited my dad's darkest brown/black hair and eyes. My beautiful mom had coppery light brown hair and green eyes. I wanted to change everything about me. I think if I could have peeled my skin off, shaved my head (I've done that) and sold my eyeballs, I would have. A couple times I poured bleach over my head. Got nothing but blisters and major toxin exposure from that. When I think of the thousands I've spent in the salon, I shudder.

About 1 year ago, I stopped using all chemicals on my hair and cut off all hair that had been touched by chemicals. Since then, I've been treated to lush chestnut waves with a few streams of crystal coursing through. I have to admit that the white hair makes me feel less youthful, but I refuse to put chemicals on my head again. Besides, I think that colored gray hair never looks convincing to me. Sort of hollow and fake.
A couple of weeks ago, I was in an Indian grocery and complimented the proprietor on her lovely long dark hair. A woman of about 50 or so, she said she treats herself to a monthly henna pack that she mixes herself. She uses powdered henna leaf, saffron and other herbs, her own recipe. So pure, you can eat it. She sold me a bag of the stuff for $5.99.
I raced home, mixed a few tablespoons with hot water and oil and packed it on. I still have enough for at least 5 more treatments. I left it for 3 hours as she advised. I couldn't believe how beautiful it made my hair. So shiny and strong!! and the gray? Rich, deep ambery gold. What a miracle substance.
We have to look no further than the plant world for nutrition, medicine and beauty. We really can have it all, just as Nature intended.
