I’ve been at a funny little cross roads lately. For some reason, I have chosen on several occasions to sabotage my health and eat non-raw food. Each time, it made me feel horrible and has created days of feeling way less than wonderful.
I really don’t know why I did this, if I was choosing to hurt myself or what. But I do know that I yearn for what I was starting to get the taste of: “perfect” health… And the funny thing is, when I was at my best I had begun to feel so good that I was passionate about sharing the good news. I started a business called “Ready Set Healthy” to help others, but I feel as though I really can’t DO much business to help anyone else until I get myself on track.
(Beppa, this one’s from you!) I wrote a LOT here so I hereby grant you all permission to not read on! If you do choose to read on, I would love, love, love if you shared your tips with me. What do you do to keep yourself happy, healthy and well?
So, here’s what I’m up to… I’m giving myself 60 days to get back to where I was and more. I will be my first client. I think the key is going to be found in creating good habits that feel great. I need to make my whole life more complete. I’m brainstorming ideas that I think will help me, and here’s the start:
-Recognizing that health encompasses my whole being: my heart, my digestion, my mind. My “everything” must come together to create overall wellbeing and happiness and as a result, health.
-Scheduling like crazy. It sounds a little strange, but I think it will work for me. I have so much work to do that I can’t afford to be inefficient. I need to plan time to do all of my different tasks for work. I actually think that if I did that I might be working less than the 40 hours instead of more.
-But it’s not just work. For years, I have had the goal or becoming fluent in Hungarian, my father’s native tongue. I actually lived in Hungary for about 6 months and learned a lot, but I don’t practice and I’ll never be fluent at this rate. If I even just scheduled 15 minutes a day, I would at the very least maintain the Hungarian I already have and hopefully build on that. I need to make sure I don’t forget my life goals!
-I have GOT to remember to take some breaks to relax, eat lunch, set aside time for myself during the work day. And RFT doesn’t count!
-I love RFT, but I need the time for it to be scheduled in too. I can’t just pop in and distract myself so much that I am not being efficient with my work and creating unnecessary stress. Ya’ll will be here all day. I can see what’s happening at the end or beginning of the day!
-Working from home is great, but I need to feel a little more attached to the real world. I would like to start my days off getting ready just like I would if I were going to leave the house: shower first thing in the morning, make my bed, dress myself in something nice, etc.
-Wheat grass and sprouting! I’ve been meaning to really make these happen. This will not be immediate, but I will make them happen.
-Regular exercise. I MUST get some fresh air (OUTSIDE!) every single day. I must get some exercise every single day. I’m going to start my days running, even if it’s a short distance. This will clear my head and get my blood pumping. I need it to feel my best.
-As a young and married person, I need to acknowledge that my marriage will not be successful unless I make sure of it. I’m growing, learning and growing up, and I need to do my darndest to make that a good thing for us, or it won’t be. I need to give my dh a nice kiss when he leaves and when he comes home! This will remind us both that I love having him around. ;)
-I need to take a complete break from life and work sometimes. I’m thinking that M-F I’ll work hard to complete all of my “day” jobs’ tasks. Saturday, I will brainstorm how I can be more helpful to others and successful in my own business as it grows. This will be my personal growth day. Sunday will be complete rest! No work, no brainstorming, reading only if it’s for pleasure, exercising only if it happens naturally, etc.! I might even juice fast on Sundays too to give my digestive system a break, but I’m not sure about that one yet.
-I know what I just said about Saturdays and Sundays… but I love to travel! So, if I would like to travel on a random weekend, I give myself a permission slip to not brainstorm or fast or whatever unless I really want to!
I’m sort of attached to all of these ideas, but these 60 days are an experiment to see what really does give me all of the best for my life. If something doesn’t work, I’m not going to do it or I’m going to make it work better somehow. My one and only commitment to myself is … to prepare myself for health and to get it! So, here it is. Ready Set Healthy… Day 1 of 60+.
Edited to add: I had a great morning… oil pulled, juiced a cuke, some carrots & an apple, took the time to make my bed and went for a run, had a green (beet red!) smoothie, dry skin brushed, took a hot & cold shower (yikes!), swept the whole house, cleaned the bathroom… Went to the store to get some peppermint, more cukes, lemons, and I made a nice batch of tea with that and a touch of stevia. I’m going to try not drinking hot tea so much to see how that goes. And now here I am getting ready to organize my office and clear my mind a bit more. What a wonderful start to Day 1 on this journey. I’m feeling fantastic!!
