Happy Raw Year!
So, here I was, about to step on the scales on the day after New Year's - a fearful moment for most after weeks of holiday goodies. For me, I saw my lowest weight in years!
Weight loss has slowed to almost a stop the last 8 weeks or so, but still it is coming off ssslllloooowwwwllllyyyy. So this morning marked 91 pounds lost and seeing 207 for the first time in eons.
I remember being about 11 or 12 and my mom telling me to not get over 200 pounds because it was harder to take off after that point - by the time she told me that, I was already at about 210. Through my teens and early 20's I hovered at around 220 - 225. Then I lived in Nicaragua for 2 years over a 3 year period and my lowest weight was about 180 - that was my wedding weight.
After returning to the States and my sedentary lifestyle here, I returned to the 220-225 range. It was my pregnancy at the age of 25 that sent me up to close to 300, where I basically hovered until going raw in April, 2007. (There was one diet I did in there that brought me down to about 250 - maybe about 8 to 10 years ago - but that was short lived and my weight shot back up again.)
Now I am 42 and am finally seeing a weight that I haven't seen since an obese childhood (30+ years ago) and my time living abroad (20 years ago).
What is even cooler about this, is that even though the scales can be exciting, the other benefits of raw are amazing. Sometimes I don't feel like I have that extrodinary energy that people talk about, but then I have days like yesterday where we had to do all day emergency pest control, and I was able to work all day without being totally exhausted in the evening - not even tired! And that was after two sleepless nights with a sick child. Perhaps I don't discover the energy more often since I am so used to not trying to be energetic.
Happy Raw Year!!
