on a flax cracker frenzy!!

Rate this Entry
HI all:

just wanted to post a BIG OLE THANK YOU To all the people who responded like ER physicians to my dehydrator post!! I went ahead and woke up at 5 in the morning to flip the crackers, and then cut them with a kitchen scissors into squares -- they are beautiful!! I will take pics and post them in my fotki album (where all my raw food pics are -- cant get the hang of posting here.. my pics are too big! what the heck!)

In the meantime, today's menu:

am:
chocolate smoothie - cashews, water, dates, carob, cacao nibs... not sure if I like the dates here.. switching back to agave, and forgot to add almond butter...

6 pumpkin nog flax crackers ( yep, I used the leftovers! NO WASTING FOOD!)
sunflower pate' on a cracker, with tomato and avocado slices -- ooh sooo yummy!!

snacked on olives and banana chips

pm:

2 carrot-walnut burgers, with almond-peanut curry sauce, and 2 side servings of marinated greens (kale and collard) -- THIS WAS DELECTABLE!!

Hubby really likes the carrot burgers, esp with the sauce on top. I made up the sauce from when I used to make peanut curry "cluckers".. Not naming the fleshy stuff here :) but basically its raw almond butter with a little peanut butter, honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, and a little water.

I made more marinated greens, this time with jalapenos to warm us up for winter.

Hubby also liked the pumpkin flax crackers and was impressed that they came out all nice and square :) I watched Karen Knowler's youtube videos for raw goodies, and it was really helpful. Also read a few threads on trying to get crackers crispy and nicely shaped...

So, since I promised hubby I would use up all the veggie pulp from our summer of juicing, I made a huge batch (IMO) of flax crackers -- all 4 trays are full of a veggie flax cracker spinoff recipe, except I sprinkled different seasonings on top for various uses.

On one tray I sprinkled nutritional yeast, on another italian seasoning and onion, on another, just herbamere, and on another, a sundried tomato/basil/ herb combo...

So I am looking forward to going to bed and flipping them in the morning. The pumpkin ones are still chewy... but maybe I'll put them back in later to get them crispier ..

In the meantime, I am DRINKING LOTS OF WATER -- between the dehydration from the weather adjustment and the flax crackers, I am feeling a bit of a bloat, as well as "getting my MOVE ON".

Is that normal to have a little bloat with dehydrated foods ( probably if you are already dehydrated!)??? I am up about 4lbs, partly with my period and maybe the new snacking + lack of fluids...

Otherwise, a few headaches and general irritability today, but clear-mindedness is rearing its head quickly. Not sure if its "Eve" and/or detox...

Well rawmongers! I gotta go to bed! Sleep tight and be at peace :)

Im Gonna have a lot of crackers tomorrow!! I'll put links so you can see ;)

Bless you!
