Hi Y'all.
Just a quickie today.
I've been out in the kitchen un-cooking all morning.
Making some goodies for the event tomorrow down at Fairchild Gardens.
So far, fudge...cheesecake and corn chips.
Some time between now and then I have to do my hair, nails and figure out what to wear, make salsa, find platers and serving items, make up some temp business cards, dig out the cooler - see if it fits in the car, fill up with gas, etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. etc.
And, uhhhm, figure out what I'm going to say.
Ok, beps...breathe.
I did probably the dumbest thing in the world today (ok not in the world but dumb none the less). My dh was nice enough to flip the corn chips, but I forgot to tell him to sprinkle them with salt. So this morning I got up and had to rewet the chips and sprinkle salt. The salt I have for some reason are all in giant clumps - "who want giant clumps of salt on a chip???" So I used my fingers to scrunch them and grind them. BIG MISTAKE! I found that out when I was juicing lemons for the cheesecake!
Holy man woman and child that hurt! Apparently I now have tiny little cuts all over my fingers, thumbs and palm! DOH! This should make for some great comic relief tomorrow while I am demonstrating these same recipes.
And here we are juicing 3/4 cup of lemons...Y-E-O-W-!!!!!
What a dufus. Who knew? See, now I have saved all of you from making the same terrible mistake.:) ;)
Oh, and on business news...I ordered my very first products yesterday for my website. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK! And hired a design team for the web. EEEEEEEEEEEEEEK! Things are-a-happenin'.
Congrats to those of you rocking the casbah...and you know who you are!
Big hugs to you. I'd appreciate your thoughts and prayers for this weekend.

Thanks, and I agree, the idea at the least deserves more thought. I
appreciate your willingness to participate and will take you up on that
notion. I will save this information, and work to pull together some
staff to work on it. Is it best to contact you by e-mail? In all reality
it may be a few weeks before we get together with next week being a
short week for us.

Hi Terry,
Thank you for your thoughtful reply, I appreciate it so much.
Perhaps there is a way to make a special area such as displayed at
butterfly world, where the general public can't just wonder in at any
time of the day or night. But when it is "harvest time" it is unlocked
and people are allowed in?
Or perhaps it's just a sign that says not ready yet...ok now! And please
don't climb. Perhaps we could come up with a way to collect the rainfall
we do get, or reclaim the grey water used in the bathrooms and recycle
it? There are so many great ideas out there that would overcome all of
these objections.
I don't know. I guess it seems as though sure, there are a lot of
reasons listed as to why we "shouldn't" (pesticides, rodents, etc) but
not many suggestions listed of how it "could" be done.
Organic techniques seem to work pretty well without the use of
pesticides, and that would be healthier for everyone. I would love to
see this happen and would be willing to participate in a brainstorming
or task force session to figure out a way to do this. A win-win
situation! As a progressive city, we should be leading the way in doing
what is right for the planet and for the citizens who don't have a
voice, namely the homeless.
Judging by the responses, obviously there are a bunch of talented and
intelligent people who work for the city and parks department. Couldn't
we challenge them and say "let's find a way"? I would hate to see this
idea die via email.
All the best, let's make it happen.

Over and out peeps.
If you see a vision...make it happen.
