looking up.

Things are looking up a little. We bought a new wood stove last night for 1.3K less than we had planned. It's a beaut! Dh is picking it up today after work. Hopefully some (BIG) friends are gonna help him install it today or tomorrow. These 2 are HUGE identical twins in their early 30s. It's funny to see them next to my 9 year old skinny, practically see-through identical twins. LOL!

Em is getting his stitches removed today-did I tell you he cut his finger very badly about 2 weeks ago? He tends to FREAK out about the small stuff like when he is missing a piece of string or his shoe lace is longer on one side and he starts to yell and cry. So we have been working on repeating to him "Calm down honey. Take a DEEEEEEP breath. This is NOT an emergency. We can fix this easily." We probably say it 5x a day. So 2 weeks ago Emmet's upstairs all alone and comes down to the sitting room and says "Um, mom? Excuse me. I'm not sure if this is an emergency....." without taking my eyes off the TV I say "What is it?" At this point I'm thinking too much toilet paper in the bathroom or a cup of spilled water....So he holds up his mummy wrapped hand, DRENCHED in soggy bloody toilet paper. Dh tries to get the TP off and now there is blood dripping, keeping time with my wrist watch!!!!!

So he went to the hospital for stitches. He was his usual Emmet Moon-self, full of unintentional humor and wit. He kept the nurses cracked up the whole time. At one point the nurse says "I have to numb the area. This is the worst part, so look away while I do it." So Em looks away and waits a bit. Dh told me that the woman was injecting it and spraying it directly into the cut. She puts his hand down and emmet says "Umm, excuse me? But when are you gonna start?" BWAHAHAHA! He's so desensitized to pain that he couldn't even feel the needle being poked over and over into his hand.

Anyway. Maybe I should talk about raw foods or something. Today has started off strong. Not too hungry. I had 1/2 a banana with agave and cacoa on it for breakfast. Tomorrow is potluck day. I'm bringing eggplant pizza or Gus's Rawlmond Joys. I was going to bring both when all 6 of us were going, but now it's just Addie and me. I'm so psyched to go, both for myself and to expose Addie to more of the raw food life style.

2 days ago I ate a little soy cheese and now I have a quarter sized BOIL on my face and my nose is stuffy.

When will I learn?

Post about anything that's on your mind. I love hearing about people's lives, how their days are going...good bad and ugly. Food is only a fragment of who we are. I have such admiration for both you and Shine. You are both quite inspirational to me.
