Sunday....
Hello, My name is Debra.. I am a stay at home mom to 6 rowdy kids- youngest 5 are boys! I am a fiber artist- I knit, crochet, weave, and spin yarn.. I also work with my husband in our home business building and maintaining websites and doing internet marketing. We started our raw journey on the 8th.. I am the only one 100% raw at this time. I have lost 10 lbs. I have 100 plus pounds to go. My husband though not 100% has experienced major victories- no more gerd, gastritis and hypoglycemia attacks..
Today I went shopping... time to load up on bananas- we go through about 100 plus pounds a week- between smoothies and the kids just grabbing a banana when they need a snack. I found raw olives.. I didn't realized how much I craved olives- as I can't keep my hand out of the fridge!! I also found raw carob, cherimoya's, and some young coconut.. yum! The older kids didn't love the coconut but the baby sure did.. and loves the water.
I made the portabello mushrooms topped with guacamole.. jeff didn't really like it- he said it was too mushroomy (this coming from a guy who loves mushrooms). So since I had a free dehydrator tray free I tried something... I rubbed the mushroom with mushed garlic and olive oil- topped with sea salt and pepper.. then I put them in the dehydrator.. We had them for dinner and they were awesome.. reminded me of mushrooms on a pizza.. had a real italian flavor.. I will do that again! I save a couple to slice up on some live pizza I plan to make on tuesday.
The kiddos wanted dessert... So I made my own version of fudge balls.. I made some almond butter (note to self: soak almonds before grinding for butter)... still good but dryer.. I ground up some walnuts, added soaked dates, raw carob powder and honey. Mixed up with the almond butter.. the kids licked the bowl clean after I made a platter of balls and a pie pan of bars.. My oldest even said it was better than chocolate. YAY!
So there you have it.. the beginning of our journey..
