A Greener Tomorrow...Today
Greetings all,
I am relatively new to this site as well as being a raw newbie. I have dabbled in raw since the beginning of August 2007 and have made a 100% commitment to being 100% raw (at least for the month of Oct., and hopefully forever).
I am a teacher, and this year our school has adopted the motto "A greener tomorrow...today.". Of course they are referring to becoming environtmentally green and encouraging student recycling and such. However, I must say that driving into campus every morning and seeing the HUGE banner screaming "A GREENER TOMORROW....TODAY!" has become somewhat of a more personal mission for me. From this point forward, I will be eating greener today for a healthier tomorrow(BTW: I find is slightly ironic that the college has these huge PLASTIC banners all over to support being more environmentally aware
) I have embraced the greenness of juice and smoothies:) I have embraced the greenness of using cloth grocery bags:) I have embraced the greenness of local produce by joining our local co-op. Every week they deliver local produce and I get a ton of it!!:)
I am new to blog-land too. So forgive me my trespasses, please. Seems like Oct. is the month for new everything![]()
My journey into raw began this summer. I have been at my wits end trying to manage sickness (kidneys, heart, and sleep problems) in traditional ways and my weight and overall demeanor had fluctuated so much that it was time for a radical change.
So far, I have been about 75% - 80% raw and have noticed a lot of differences in my overall well being. I am lucky that my family is very supportive and loving and that I am surrounded by friends and co-workers who are non-judgmental and encouraging. I am not as lucky to live in the South, where good organic food is hard to find. But, I count my blessings as they are and hope for the best.
Well...I guess that means that Monday is the 1st of October and the beginning of something grand![]()
I am so lucky to have become a part of this community....
