could anyone help me with this?

Okay, this isn't food related but I'm stressed out over a school issue. You see, I went to college for one year and towards the end of that year I decided that I no longer wanted to go to that school because I really did not like it at all anymore. I really didn't like the atmosphere, students, etc. Although I did really well in high school (national honor society, 3.74 gpa, pretty high SATS) I didn't do so well my first year of college because I was kind of depressed and had no motivation to do my work. As a result i finished with low gpa under 2.5. Well I was going to transfer to a state school but when i tried to do so, my school would not give me my transcripts because it turns out the loans/scholarships i got at the beginning of year were not enough to cover the cost of going there. so i still owe that school almost 4,000 dollars. I do not want to back there but i can't transfer any where else bc i dont have access to my transcripts. Its really frustrating because I am willing to work really hard at the school i want to go to, maintain a job, and im going to major in philosophy which is something im really really interested in. i know i am capable of doing the reading and school work and everything else, im just being held back. I'm looking up loans on the internet but it seems as though all the student loans are for students looking for money to cover future costs at a school they are either going to or are still enrolled in. not costs to a school they left. I already had to take off a semester which is something i did not want to do and I really do not want to have to take off another one.

anyone have any experience with this type of situation at all?? thank you so much if you do and have any advice. im at my wits end right now :/

that totally sucks - it's like black mail. Can't the new school request the transcripts for you? and then if your old school refuses - I would go seek legal advice from one of those legal aid places. A doctor or hospital CANNOT keep your medical records from yu - they are YOUR records... aren't transcripts similar? THEY ARE YOUR RECORDS....that's just not right... start looking for 'legal aid' places and see what they say. good luck --- and keep us posted.;)

Hope everything works out for you. That just doesn't sound right at all.
I agree with Star, seek legal advice.

i am in my 3rd year of college. they will NOT release her transcripts until all of the college costs are paid. every college is like that. you will not be able to find a student loan to pay for school you have already done, you would have to take out a personal loan. i know it is not fair but how it is at every college. can you get a personal loan?
