Day 8 - keep on truckin'

Rate this Entry
Day 8 - I didnt think I could go this long without eating cooked food for most of the day, but it has been much easier that I would have anticipated. I am looking forward to each day and how i can eat fresh food :)

Was rushing this morning and decided to slow down a bit and take things in.. Took a nice shower and as I was putting on my lotion, thought... hm my thighs are feeling pretty firm right about now -- and Im sore from my bike ride.. and ooh my belly is getting smaller ... and ooh my arms look a little smaller too.. ok and well, look at that - I can cross my arms in front and cup my shoulders comfortably. These are all new changes that I definitely did not see before :) I feel good, people!

I wanted to step on the scale, but I felt like I should wait. I asked myself, will this motivate me to stay raw? 'No, my body said, but it will tell you if you are doing something right'. And before I got on, my spirit was saying, you weigh less than 180 and that will encourage you to keep going. Dont you feel better anyway? And sure enough, I stepped on and..... drummm rooolls please..........................................

177.8 lbs (AND 31.3% bodyfat)

I was so amazed! I have lost over 2 pounds in one week - not that I really care only about the weight loss, but I have been exericising 3x/week since Jan 15 and had only lost 6lbs. and in a week with the RIGHT nutritional plan, 2 pounds just fall off? Well, I know a mindset change is also involved and that may have an additional factor in my weight loss, but I was just as motivated back then. I think I was trying too hard to change my appearance rather than changing my concepts of health and eating.

I am so convicted - that I was really not eating as well as I should have been. I look at what I have eaten over these past few days and it is way more fruit and veggies than I have consumed in months...

Thank you Lord for connecting people to me regarding this amazing way of living that gives me more energy, peace and motivation to use the gifts you have given me to uplift, support and encourage others. My friend in the lab left me a sticky note on my desk today saying, 'The torte was delicious! Thanks !!; My cooking (and now my uncooking) is really a hit in my research lab, so I plan to make zucchini marinara and date nut torte for everyone tomorrow for lunch.

I am so excited. However, I was not as good as I would like to be today about my eating, but I am hoping to make up for it.

so far:
banana
Handful of dried banana chips
Handful of sunflower seeds, pepitas, dried cranberries, peanuts and raisins - for some reason, the peanuts in this trail mix were really yucky.. not sure if I like peanuts that much anymore..
handful of grapes
handful of wheat thins ---not raw.. just in my bag... (
tofu with noodles - see what happens when you dont pre-pack your food? you pick the wrong tupperware and then you're stuck!!
mixed salad with spinach, collards, olives, green peppers, jalapenos, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, + nutritional yeast as dressing -- super yum!!
banana
kiwi
5oz GT Synergy kombucha drink
I need GREENS tonite!

Planning on going home to wash and deep condition my hair, then make some more nori rolls with the almost tuna... may also stop and get some more portabellas for hubby Definitely need more greens today. I may have to lighty steam the turnip greens I have.. there seem to be no recipes using them in Alissas book or the complete book of raw foods that I have on loan from my aspiring raw friend.

Thank you so much for seeing me thru the first week. Even though it is not perfect, the fact that I attempted to change my life HAS changed my life. I cant wait to see how I progress thru week two!

todays exercise: 1 hour Pilates this evening..
As many pushups as I can:
As many chair squats as I can in 1 min:

I will use these two exercise tests to gauge my progress over the next week..
