To honor my raw-ness today, I wore a green top and green headband over my afro puff. I look like gift-wrapped piece of broccoli, hubby said (it was a compliment).
Started the morning off with a banana papaya shake (added aloe and a little scoop of ground meal to it for fiber)
I started soaking some seeds (clover, alfalfa, and broccoli) and will rinse when I get home.
I had for lunch the zusghetti with marinara - it was delish - but noodles were a bit soggy. I will store them separate and mix them when I am ready to eat next time. A fellow grad student in the lab saw what I was eating and said it looked scrumptious. I told her the ingredients and she said .. hmm I shoudl cook more often. I said, well, actually none of this is cooked, and told her what I was doing for 30 days. She was very interested, and i told her that my recipes are very simple, and I would bring her a dish to eat tomorrow that she would really like.
An hour later I are some carrots and date nut torte. I immediately thought, wow this torte is soo good. I really feel like I am eating a cake! I cut the rest that I had into pieces and shared it with my friend, whom I was talking to before. She loved it!! I told her the ingredients, and she thought it was awesomeso I let her eat the rest. As I walked down the hall to my student mailbox, I felt soo happy about giving away my little torte and also that I am sticking to my guns
I am really feeling happy and buzzed a bit about my changes. I read about 50 pages of Alissa book last nite, and made a grocery list for week one -- did not even realize that she has a 4 -week plan in the book..!! I was just winging it on Sat., but concidentally the things I was making are part of week 1 and 2, so I was falling right in line with the recommendations. I have some marinara left and hope to make some stuffed portabellas tonite (thats week 2 but I gotta try it!!)
I am really good, so much so that as I was walking down the hall, I smiled at everyone and said hi - even the people that were scowling and frowning on their way to class (post-midterms) relaxed and smiled as ours eyes met. Also smiled and said hi to many faculty coming in..
got back to the lab and thought - I have to write down how my day is going!!
Saw the new thread on Kombucha and asked another grad student in my lab about it and how it tastes and such (he is japanese). He said he will bring me some to try, and see if I like it, and it is unlike any other Asian tea out there. I guess it sounds like it is gonna be a little on the nasty side, but anything to help my digestion, which is still a bit gassy from yesterdays cheat.
Not really moving regularly, so my goal today is to drink 64 oz of water by 5pm.
so far (morn till 1:30)
banana + papaya smoothie , with aloe and ground flax
banana in car
date nut torte 1oz
zucc + marinara
handful of carrots
sips of kombucha tea - 2 thumbs up, after acquiring a taste
2 collard rolls, 2 extra collard greens, 1/2 avocado
1 peach, later on.
- off to the store for portabellas, avos, and macadamia/pine nuts for the alfredo dish
Benefits so far, after 4 days of raw:
2lbs lost (180 - wow)
clearer minded
staying up late, less sleep with refreshment
more energy and focus
discomfort wearing glasses ( I feel better not wearing them, even looking at the computer)
improved mood
more productive and decisive
Side effects
bloating and gas...
empty/ not full feeling - not sure if this is good or bad.
a little more stiffness in joints, esp ankles and hips
Along with diet, I have bought some foot detox pads to use 3x week for 30 days, to help pull more toxins out of my body. Anyone had good results with them? Hubby thinks the pads are a gimmick, but I do sleep sounder and feel better in the morning after I wear them..
will update when I get home.. I feel changes in less than 100 hours!
-----------------------------------------
this evening:
got home and stir fried some tofu for hubby, and ate two collard rolls with 1/4 avocado added onto each. I like to use two leaves and put avocado between the two... an extra squirt of Braggs... man it was soo good. left one more in the fridge for the morning drive. Started doing my Colonix program again, and although I hadnt really been having BMs the last day or so, today more than made up for it. I will be keeping that up for sure. Also bought some kombucha tea (GT Synergy) and sipped some after my workout todayIt reminds me of beer, but much more palatable. I think I like it better than Rejuvelac, but I dont know which I will keep- labor intensive or expensive..
30 min on elliptical (2.7 miles)
30 min on treadmill (2.1 miles)
So I had an A-ok day! I really feel the buzz as well as more BMs. Looking forward to tomorrow...
