Today went very well.
I had two apples for breakfast. Went out shopping for more ingredients and tools. Bought a mandoline slicer, chopper, and reamer, but could not find the spiral slicer anywhere, and most staff seemed perplexed at my inquiry.
I am going to bed soon, although I feel quite awake. Stomach still feels pretty hollow -ish, but no feelings of hunger per se. I "re-watched" Alissa's DVD and worked thru Collard and Nori Rolls. THEY TASTE AMAZING! Especially with the BRaggs Amino Acids on it - WOW. I feel a little funny, like I am cheating the weather and my usual winter meals. its 30 degrees out and Im eating like its summertime.
I think at night I may add some jalapeno or cayenne to my foods to warm me up before bedtime, so I sleep a little better... rather than drinking tea, since that is not technically raw. I may still steep fresh herbs at night and then strain in the morning for my infusions, and mix with morning shake.
Did a lot of running around today. At one point, I was soo hungry, I had to buy a pound of bananas and ate 2 or 3 ..
Made a banana, carrot juice and papaya smoothie when I came home.. awesome! Then had some ME- time: washed and deep conditioned my hair, then went to work on the rolls. I think hubby will really like the sushi, so I will make more tomorrow for him to try. My fridge is packed, and I need to organize it into raw and cooked, so I dont accidentally take the wrong tupperwares to school.
The A- is because I didnt have mushrooms, so I used the rest of some marinated mushrooms I previously bought for a cooked meal...bad girl!!!
I know now that I can marinate them in braggs, so I bought some fresh ones for that very reason.
I was really impressed with the flavor and the ease of those two recipes. Other than the mess I made with my chopper, the space I used didnt take up more than a legal size sheet of paper. I took a few pics, and I will post them in my fotki album at the end of the month for inspiration.
Off to la-la land -- I really ate raw today -- wow I am just in awe of Nature's nutrition. I've never had plain avocado before. I enjoyed the taste of it also. I see that these two recipes for sure will soon be a staple.
Tomorrow, I will try to tackle the zusghetti with marinara and the stuffed portabellos, and maybe even a small cabbage roll with lentil sprouts instead of pate' .
Anyone used turnip greens for their rolls or have other recipes..? Or can it be a substitute for kale, chard, etc.? I have some, but I havent tasted them before and I want to make sure that is alternative... I've only eaten turnip greens cooked in the past. How do you decribe the taste of turnip greens..?
