My ship is finally turning around. I have been so dependent on junk food the last long while, I am not sure why...part comfort, part rebellion, part addiction, part laziness, part taste.
HOWEVER, through a combination of various inconsistent efforts, I seem to be gaining some momentum. FINALLY!!
There is something about the turning of a new year...and also about turning 39 shortly, that really makes one think and take stock and insist better of oneself and one's life.
When you hit the 40 area of age, you can start that reflection process on the past 20 years or so, and in my case, it started with my relationship...one thing I realized is how much I have and still compensate/sacrifice my own preferences to bridge the gap between my partner and I. I need to start living more authentically...I crave it, and I am already moving in this direction. Part of this is my diet...don't ask me why I felt the need to sacrifice my diet for my relationship...in fact, I was all raw for months and although he's not supportive, he wasn't unsupportive either...it was just easier maybe, to go with the status quo of what the whole family was eating.
So yesterday, I purposely gave all my change away to my teenagers on our way to school and work, so I would have no money for vending machines, forcing me to eat my apple. I also brought cinnamon for it, as I LOVE cinnamon on my apples. It was a big hit.
Today was even better...I ate a banana and an apple at work and then went out for lunch with a friend and had a huge delish salad...not entirely vegan or raw, but dark green lettuce and lots of earthy, hippy ingredients.
My blood sugar had that familiar raw 'coasting' feeling, whereby the hunger comes on very slowly and gradually, the food tasted good, it was just really nice.
AND EASY.
I'm going to keep doing at least this, until it's routine. Fruit, fruit, salad. ...then I will figure out what to do about supper. I am more concerned with making sure I quite my junk food dependency and am willing to include some cooked whole food type meals to help me do so.
Thanks for reading and thanks for being here and being active, I love to read all of your stuff and check in what everyone is up to, even though I don't comment a whole lot, and it is a continued source of inspiration for me.
