Fasting Day 4 Recap: Feeling Good

Rate this Entry
So I woke up on Day 4 from the best night’s sleep I had in a long time (I had some weird detox dreams though). The sickness and nausea from the night before was completely gone. My head was clear and I was feeling completely normal. In fact, I was so normal that I could not even tell I was fasting. I was amazed, I was actually one step beyond normal because as the day progressed, I did not feel hungry once. I did not even feel the need to juice, so I only drank one glass of apple juice throughout the day.

Overall my skin was noticeably much softer. All day long I kept feeling my arms and could not believe how soft they felt, they felt silky smooth and I did not use any lotion. On my arms I did notice a few small pimples, and I am not a person to get acne so I have taken this as a positive sign of detoxing. Additionally, I also noticed that the white coating on my tongue became less.

I am contemplating the possibility that the sickness that I felt on Day 3 may have very well of been my body going into ketosis because Day 4 was filled with increased energy and loss of appetite.

On Day 4 I did my weigh in at 145 lbs. My starting weight was 149.2 so basically so far I lost a little over 4 pounds a day. This was a definite perk and a new inspiration!

However….Here is the bad news….In the evening I took a “temporary break” from my fast with a small salad. Mind you, the ingredients in a salad are not too much different than what you might put in a green smoothie, with the exception of the nuts and olive oil. But why did I do this, especially if I was not feeling hungry? Well, it comes with a bit of a story, but I will give you the short version of it. Halloween (day 4) marked the 7 year anniversary of my partner and I. Yes we met on Halloween. Thus, this day is a very big deal to us, it is the one holiday of the year that is specifically designed around embracing our relationship. So in conclusion, I decided to have a meal with my partner so as to keep things intimate. It was a very light meal and filled me up fast. Regardless I do not plan on making a habit of this and I am still considering myself on a fast. Naturally my concern is trying to get my body back into the swing of things with minimal side effects. If need be, I am willing to consume a green smoothie or two but I am hoping that I will be able to just stick to juices and water.

Anyhow, I am on day 5 now, and it is right around "normal" peoples lunch time. So far I have only taken in water and I am not really feeling hungry nor am I feeling weak. So I would say so far the forecast looks good but let’s hope that this trend continues as the day progresses.
