Reflecting

Rate this Entry
Reflecting on my "personal" relationship with food and trying to figure out why it is that I often choose to overconsume or malnourish myself with what I choose to eat. We have the funds to buy the best fuel and the knowledge and power to prepare tasty and nutritious meals.

This weekend was Vegan until late last night when I enjoyed a piece of salmon and a chocolate bar. I was fine with all of my choice the entire weekend but I was very much aware that even though all was vegan that I was over consuming and eating highly processed high sodium items. Like the loads of pastries on Sat morning, salty roasted nuts that eve and way too much injera bread at the Ethiopian restaurant for lunch yesterday. So of course I feel sluggish, achey and bloated today. And while my body appreciates the influx of fruits and veggies and the avoidance of meat (other than fish) the chocolate bar and high sugar content of even the vegan treats is really too much!

What I've noticed with my RAW vegan intake is that I often treat it like fasting. Just soemthing I do on occasssion not really a lifestyle continuum. I've also noticed that I most enjoy raw foods simply or as a smoothie. Aside from RP brownies, kale chips and rawritos, most of the fancy raw dehydrated dishes only serve to increase my craving for the real/ unreal SAD things.

I think I will keep next week (1 st week reRawing) very simple and jsut enjoy gettig in the proper portions, quality and variety of foods. My dehydrator is wrecked anyway so no fancy prep there and I really just want to focus on feeling good while eating well.

It's really good to reflect...each day and moment is tentative in the beginning of any new change, right?
