Partly inspired by Shelshel who gave me the extra nudge, and partly inspired by some recent epiphanies, I am going to do a major leap up. :)
I just REALLLLLY want to be healthy, glowing, vibrant, fit, youthful and happy.
I have been doing a Lot of thinking and I am ready to change my diet...My newest revelation has me thinking a lot about starches/cooked carbs and insulin spikes...due to endometriosis, but also with respect to weight gain and yes, even body odour. Apparently eating starches are what make you need deodorant!! I need to discover if this is true...lol.
I will, for now, still be moderate with carrots and sweet potatoes...and totally quit rice and white potatoes. (I already don't eat gluten).
So there is that piece...
And then there is the greens and salads. I joined a raw challenge thing and didn't much know about what to expect. The focus so far has been on green smoothies and, to be honest, I am just not a fan. I am not a fan of eating a whole lot of mush that tastes exactly the same, mouthful after mouthful...fruit smoothies once in awhile, sure....but not everyday. I MUCH prefer salads...you do lots of chewing, every bite is slightly different, it's much more artistic and something to get excited about. I LOVE em!
I am officially committed to eating a large one everyday...I want to experiment and expand my already pretty vast knowledge.
And then there is fruit...this is in line with my wanting to give up starches. I also hate being thirsty...and cooked carbs generally make me very thirsty and it's annoying....lol. I just had a massive amount of cherries. :)
I watched this video posted on facebook by Tim Van Orden (Running Raw guy) and he interviewed the infamous Durianrider/Harley and they had an interesting discussion about aiming for a bullseye, center, ideal diet...and if sometimes you can't make it, you have a second ring that you aim for which is 'better' as opposed to 'best'. This makes sense to me...so I will aim for best.
Best = Fruit, Salads, making my own raw bread, brownies, whatever -experimenting with new raw recipes and having fun with the whole thing.
Better = Salad add-ons that are not raw, Lightly cooked veggies or a non-starchy, homemade soup or stew, things I am really craving eaten in small but satisfying amounts until such time that I don't need or crave them anymore.
I think between Better and Best I will be fine both health-wise and with managing my changes. I am very committed at this point...I am So Ready to claim my health and enjoy the lifestyle that will get me there. :)
