bit of a close call...

It's night time - and most of you are asleep. It was a very interesting day today. Finally got some photos off my old computer and onto the new laptop so that I could post them in the 'RawbiesRawk group room' on the snapfish site.

I'm having a blast with that btw - I love seeing everyones pics!

today - I am at day 54... fiftyfour days raw.... been doin it a while now - so it's not like I'm new to all this. I think by now I have formed raw habits, raw patterns. I just realized - that's almost 60 days - almost 2 months RAW... what the heck... WHY am I having a problem Now?? after almost 60 days???

yet... today I was hungry. Positively HUNGRY. Of course it did not help that I really haven't been prepared lately - just sorta 'wingin' it. Picking every night on my spicy taco mix. Afternoon fare has basically been fruit - orange, banana, maybe a few flax seed crackers. Lazzzyyy... not fixing food or being prepared like I should be. hmmm...

so today - I kept thinking I would drive 20 minutes to the nearest hfs and get something to eat.... maybe something GaSp... vegan... (I was THAT hungry) I didn't want candy (yuck - never ate much candy b4 anyway. I didn't want meat or anything like that - but I DID want something substantial - like a pizza wrap or raw onion bread.. ) and of course - not having been 'on it' like I should... I have nothing like that prepared.

Even dh said to me just last night... 'honey - what's up with the dehydrator? you haven't fixed ANYTHING FOR YOURSELF TO EAT... what ARE you eating?"
I told him I had been picking on my taco mix stuff and he flipped out a bit - telling me I need to eat smart if I'm going to eat this way - I need to eat SMART - and stop picking at taco walnuts everyday.

Now Princess Natoli jes went thru this a bit. (wanting vegan stuff) Then she got surrounded by the Raw Angels Swat Team ! LOL!! (too cool btw!)

So - I managed to stave off the 'gotta go eat food demons' by delving into a bag of Raw trail mix I had picked up at the hfs last week. It was quite yummy, and helped greatly. but I'm afraid - I ate A LOT of it - like maybe half the bag over a period of say 3 hours. (almonds, raisins, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds) Now that can't be good! I also had a gI'normous banana, and an orange this morning.

Then when I got off work - I fixed myself a pretty large lettuce wrap with -- yes - taco mix, avos, onion, cilantro, cashew sour creme and salsa. I sat down and ate it slowly and realized I was also feeling very tired.

My energy level came up after I ate which was good. Usually when I get off work - I'm so zapped I often fall asleep sitting there watching TV! But today -after I ate - I just felt more energized and even did some 'uncooking!'

I also made up a batch of flax seed crackers - with carrots and ginger, sunflower seeds and pumkin seeds - they're in the dehydrator right now.
I know -- I know !! I need to eat other things - but it's quick and easy and dh likes those for snacks while he's at work too - plus I had the flax seeds soaking already! But those won't be ready until late tomorrow.

So - I've got to figure out a game plan for tomorrow - seriously got to eat a nice huge -- beautiful salad.

So - RAwbies... Seriously kick my butt tomorrow if you don't hear that I"ve eaten a salad okay???

okay - I'm off to bed! zzzzzz....

you sound as if you are doing great, Starfire!! I understand how that "happens," when you realize, seemingly all of a sudden, that you are really hungry and there is no food around LOL!!!I need to do better at that too, being prepared, especially when I have 'pms.' Now, don't forget to have your salad today!!!

Man o man have I been in your shoes at least a gazillion times in the last 6 years. Ces't normal!! Ms. Starfire, it may do you good to get in some good oils. They help ward off hunger. Flax, hemp or olive oil drizzled over an avo half, filled with diced mushroom, onion, red pepper marinated in nama shoyu and dusted with garlic powder and celtic sea salt is a fab quick treat. Just scoop out the goodness by the spoonful and enjoy.:)

Also, sometimes you just need something heavy like trailmix. I wouldn't worry so much about the amount that you ate. That should be the least of your worries when having a snack attack. Good prep does help at these times but you know this already. But do put on the Xena outfit and get to crackin' with the dehydrator lady!!!

Make huge batches of raw burgers or onion bread or something tasty and dense. They freeze well and can be warmed in your dehydrator when ready. Plus, they are comfort foods for those late night snack attacks. Again, good oils help. You can even take them by the spoonful just to get through a tough hunger moment. Your body will thank you.

One last thing. We humans have been eating cooked food for thousands of years. To think that we won't crave cooked anything in our small, itty bitty lifetime is just not realistic. You're experience was sooooo normal and it will probably not be the last one. Realizing this is the first step in overcoming any possible wig out sessions you may have with yourself when it does happen again.

Ok, one more. I still crave meat, cheese, doritos, french fries, etc. I can do nothing about this but stick with what I'm doing and move forward. I simply refuse to kick your hind parts for not eating greens!!! Why? Cuz you'll do it without the butt kicking. Really, you will. Getting in raw can be pressure enough, and you will get your greens in when you're good and ready.;) Ok, if I must give a tiny butt kicking, just eat a celery stick or something. It's a start.
