My inspiration to stay raw

Rate this Entry
I wrote this as a reply to Walnutty's thread about finding inspiration to stay raw. I'm copying it here in my blog to remind myself of my reasons when I'm having a "moment" and need to be reminded of why I'm doing this:

Hey Walnutty!

Wow! I can TOTALLY relate!!!! I've been around here since 2007. I've been off and on, I've been totally raw, I've been mostly raw. I've asked myself the same thing from time to time. I actually think its good to ask yourself that. Why should I make everything from scratch raw when it's easier to just go buy the SAD version at the store? Why should I make the effort to stay raw?

I always come to the same conclusion: because I'm WORTH it!!!! I eat this way for ME. I'm not trying to live up to anyone's idea of 100% rawness. I answer to my God and myself alone. But, I've found through the years that I'm still here because it's become part of me as much as anything else in my life. It's a very special gift that I give myself each and every day. I find inspiration to stay with it with exciting new recipes, I look at photos of my food when I first began eating raw and how I've grown as a raw chef, I re-read Alissa's books so many times that I know what page things are on!!! LOL!!!!!

Believe me, the moment passes...just don't give up! :-)

I think lots of people lose track of the why of all sorts of aspects of their lives and sometimes they think they are doing something for one reason when in fact it's for a totally different reason if they look a little closer.

It's certainly helpful to know why when it comes to raw.

Thanks Renee for this post. Been having some obstacles lately and it's a good reminder to think about WHY I love doing this so much. I try to think of it as a gift to myself, and from god as well. You're right when you say let the moment pass. And don't give up. I need to write this on a sticky and post it on my mirror, fridge, cabinets. haha. Thanks for the inspiration as always.
