Good morning.
It has been a while, sorry. I get discouraged and think, I'm never returning to 100% raw (even after all my failed attempts, I keep trying.)
When I think I won't I drift away, when I think I will I come back.

It is because I know I can do this. You know!?!?! I did for several years.

So as of late I have been trying to eat for high blood pressure. I've had it for a while, but wasn't aware just how bad it had become. 159/112! :O
I was shocked. Two weeks after eating better...140/87. Amazing what simply eating right and exercising just a bit more can do.

I've basically eliminated everything but oats from my diet. So I'm have a fruit smoothie with oat toast for breakfast, raw salad, veggie smoothie with oat cookie for lunch & brocolli, carrots and cauliflower cooked for dinner. (sometimes dinner turns into something cooked with my family, but the rest of the day has been strictly adhered too. 3 pounds lost.

Then I began to think this morning. I've been eating mostly raw. If those veggies at night weren't cooked and I added raw oat products, I would be there. :) I was surprised. It would be a much simpler transition back than I thought. Apparently, my health is more important to me than my weight. Because last time I was able to eat raw, it was also my health.

I also discovered that coffee isn't good at all for people with high blood pressure and I threw out my coffee maker the same day! Haven't had a headache or missed it even once. Now there is the biggest shocker, didn't really believe I could function without the pick me up. Apparently, I can! And easier than I ever believed. Who knew. LOL

So. I am simply going to plug along at this pace. Eating lots of raw because it truly is best for me. Trying to incorporate raw oats and eliminate cooking those veggies at night.

How is everyone else doing? I've missed hearing from you?

    Hi Shelshel!

...I just typed you a whole, long message and then my internet connection got interrupted and I lost it! I hate that!...

Anyways, I was just saying that you are super awesome for one thing...and for another I read a research article on raw vegans once when I was mucking around my university online library database...there isn't much research on rawbies, but I did find one. One thing I remember it saying is that those with serious health concerns were more likely to adhere to the diet over the long-term. So this makes sense...perhaps it's important to keep in mind our health issues and keep them in proper perspective, if we want to stay focused. :)

I'm glad you are doing so well....I was thinking of joining the raw for 30 days thread, it might be a bit more active than the blogging section...I really miss being high/all raw and my health really needs the conversion as well!
