Getting Healthy Again...and Struggles

It's been over a year since I stopped being raw. I've gained a lot of weight and that's not healthy.

I haven't been eating raw because my finances are very limited. I don't receive food stamps and I can only afford to spend less that $100 a month for food.

I'll figure out a way to eat mostly raw. 10 years ago, I used to weigh 195 lbs. I was healthier at 195 lbs than at my current weight (290 lbs).

My grandmother died in late 2001 due to obesity related complications. I don't want to die young.

I have to cut out all sweets, including friend plantains, cookies, soda pop. No more eating heroes and cake.

Even my mother has said that I need eat less and lose weight. It won't be easy for me to cut out junk foods...because they are SO addicting.

I plan on gradually cutting out all processed foods and meat. Next year, I'll buy a blender and start making green smoothies.

    Good for you, Rhazula, for setting some intentions there. Green smoothies are all-around WONDERFUL, and I'm sure you'll love having those in your life.

    My recommendation for a cheap way to eat high-raw is to buy things in bulk. Bananas and romaine lettuce in bulk are fairly cheap and will give you a lot in return. Also, if you're just trying to be healthier but not necessarily raw, with a limited budget, buying whole grains like quinoa or even brown rice are fabulous bulk items. In short: whole, unprocessed foods and bulk bulk bulk! Good luck!!
