Got me a freezer!

Rate this Entry
A friend gave me her old freezer - it is spotless and much better than most other freezers have ever had; certainly the best secondhand freezer.

I don't actually really need a freezer although BF will certainly get plenty of use out of it but I figure that life without ice-cream is pretty dull and even though winter is upon us it will be invaluable for making raw ice-creams - let's face it you can't buy them easily.

So raise a glass (water here) to friends who think of you when they are having a clear-out!

MysticYree, if I had a freezer I would freeze 50 gallon sized bags of fresh Jersey blueberries!! Love them alot.

Raw ice-cream sounds dreamy tonight for some reason...hmm...I'll be back later!!

    Peace, Bonnie

Wow, it's such a foreign concept to us Americans to think of NOT having a freezer. I just can't even imagine it. We don't really keep anything in ours except ice for our water (which I know isn't very popular in Europe), and ice packs for my feet. And sometimes raw ice cream (which three of our local supermarkets keep stocked and at the ready).

Congrats to you! I am sure it will end up coming in handy for many things. :-)

I do love to have ice for summer drinks.

The thought that local supermarkets would have raw ice-cream is mind blowing. Dairy-free ice-cream is about as alternative as it gets over here. There are sorbets but full of additives.

It will be handy for taking advantage of good deals at the shops and making up meals in advance for bf. So far there are only some mushrooms in there which are for bf's cooking and some decidedly non-vegan items - again his.

I am liking the thought of the blueberries. They grew wild behind my house when I lived in Wales. Bliss!

Congratulations on your acquisition - I bet you're going to find it really useful. And now you've got me thinking about raw ice-cream ... :-)

Yes! I love freezing bananas as they start becoming a little too ripe for me to eat plain. I much prefer them in smoothies. Also frozen berries are a staple for me, especially in winter months, to add to smoothies and things. When pineapples are on sale, I cut them and freeze them. No need for me to add ice when I have fronzen fruit!
