Sushi Fun!!!

Made some vegetarian nori rolls today was amazed at how well i wrapped them and how easy they were to make. I used califlower as the rice(genius Alissa!) My dipping sauce was yum but i wish I had some pickled ginger and avocado cream cheese inside to mimic that texture i love but these were tasty i made 12 in total! They're so cute!!Click image for larger version

they look really good. I haven't made sushi rolls yet. I loved regular sushi before I was raw and I think the reason I haven't made it is because I am concerned it would be a disappointment.

Yours look wonderful though so maybe I'll be brave soon and make some.

Does the cauliflower go sticky like sushi rice?

The picture doesn't show up anymore but I remember seeing it pre-forum layout change! I'm dying to experiment with Nori but want to use up the Kombu I bought first. Did you follow a recipe for these?

I've made some nori rolls and just used sliced avocado, tomatoes, olives and salad. Can you let me have the recipe for using cauliflower as rice (new to raw and not heard of this) and avocado cream cheese sounds great can you point me in this direction x

In order to use cauliflower as rice you just take a few pieces of cauliflower florets and process them in the food processor until it get s a little grainy and voila! Easy peasy lol. As for the avocado cream cheese i haven't made any i think it would be nice to experiment with substituting avocado in the nut cream cheese recipes i've seen since i'm trying to keep it light on nuts but pretty much trying to add lemon and a bit of salt is what people do to make nut cream cheeses.

No recipe just put whatever i wanted inside. I feel like i should try replicating veggie sushi from the sushi bars and see if it taste the same lol But seriously all sushi taste the same to me it's the sauces and pickled ginger that seem to make sushi delicious so that's where i'm going to experiment next. What is kombu? lol

No the califlower doesn't get sticky but it holds together just fine in the rolls. I've seen recipes where people season the "rice" but i just let it be and i enjoyed it but i hate rice at sushi bars so i personally don't miss it lol i think the cauliflower just made it look authentic lol
