My Wonderfully Raw Journey

Home sweet home...and then i broke my blender

Rate this Entry
So today I arrived home from the family reunion and when it came to staying raw all went well. I had lots of salad, bananas, kimchi(store bought), and oatmeal cookies. I bought premade guacamole that was delicious and used it in collards wraps and even though some people didn't understand how or why I was eating this way they respected me and went on their way. This reunion wasn't like reunion in the past as we didn't know this side of the family well and they were very unorganized. Oh well better luck next time.

Since I've been home I went grocery shopping and spent a normal 50$ of my own money and 30$ that my grandfather gave me as a gift. I used it at the co op to buy some staples and other treats such as cashews which the pieces were 6.99/lb !!!, some more vanilla beans(2 pods for 1.39 I bought 3 packs), organic coconut, dates, and even raw onion bread! It's from the same lady at the farmers market she sells premade raw snacks and desserts there I thought it was awesome. And it taste amazing and I definitely want a dehydrator! Now I have so much food I can't decide what to make! I did make some lemon pudding for tomorrow and I ate the bread with some guacamole and tomorrow I plan to make teriyaki stir fry with kelp noodles.

Now earlier I also tried to make ice cream in my blender and I was stupid enough to try and use a spoon to try and scrap down the sides and my blender container exploded and now my blender is in the trash. I plan to use my food processor for now until I invest in a decent high speed blender. I've been looking at the ninja blender as its a decent price and gets amazing reviews and comparisons to the vitamix. It's only 100$ and I think its worth the investment. I have to save up right now so my food processor is my new friend for a while. After my blender I'm gonna get a cheap dehydrator to play around with and ask for an excalibur for Christmas lol!

Well that's plenty of rambling for tonight but tomorrow is day 11 of my raw journey and I'm still loving it!

How good that everyone, whilst baffled, was supportive

It took me a while to get my staples cupboard full and now it is very cheap to top up. Lemon pudding sounds good. How did you make it?

Can you not get a new blender container rather than trash the whole thing? Just until you can save up for a vitamix!

So good to hear that everyone was supportive! You're making me feel slightly better about going home in a few days - hopefully my family will be as good about things as yours.
I also really want an excalibur and a vita mix. Is it sad that I might ask for one or both for my 21st?

Mystic It's so old idk if i can plus i hate ordering things online i'm a go to the store type of girl. A vitamix will come into my life but it probably will be a graduation gift or something as i know that no time soon will i save up enough to afford that so i figured a transitioning blender in the mean time will be ok lol.

Nad you should be excited not nervous! Get home and start whipping up some awesome stuff. You'll definitely get looks and criticism about meat and what not but make some awesome desserts to knock them out and maybe they'll change their mind. I know my mom read a few of my books and said she's willing to try giving up meat and eating cleaner..which is a step in the right direction!! I'm gonna be cleaning out her kitchen this weekend..definitely will take pics cause her kitchen is scary right now!!
