I ordered a variety of seaweeds from this company. Their website states that their seaweed is suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
This is the email I sent them:
Hi,
Your parcel arrived today. Thank you for sending it so quickly.
I was however disappointed to find small sea animals in one of the packages (kelp) that I have opened. Your website does not mention the possibility of this even though the packaging does - in fact your website says your seaweeds are suitable for vegans (which I am) and dead sea animals in my food makes it perfectly clear that your products are not suitable for vegans.

Georgina
This is the reply I got:-
Hi,
The marine life which is found occassionally which lives in our SeaVeg should not be eaten, they are found because there is no chemical processing of our products. It is however very rare to find these in the sugar kelp, they are more common on the Sea Spaghetti.
Remove these by soaking in fresh water, or by picking them off.
These products are suitable for vegetarian and vegan diet, providing a rich source of B group vitamins amongst others, but you should clean them before eating.
Thanks
Mark

This is my reply in return:-
Hi Mark,
I don't think you really understand veganism.
Obviously I realised that they shouldn't be eaten and I wouldn't have eaten them anyway I AM A VEGAN!
It is not acceptable for a so called vegan product to arrive with animal parts mixed in. You really need to mention this on your website so that people are not buying blind.
I won't be buying from you again because your products are not vegan.

Georgina
So a big thumbs down for SeaVeg. Their products are not as advertised and their customer care is among the worst I have seen. I will be forwarding the exchange of emails to their local Trading Standards.
