My Wonderfully Raw Journey

Official raw journey in 1 week

Rate this Entry
I'm excited that my book/dvd from Alissa came today. I've already read through all the important info and i'm excited to get started. I decided in order to kick start my 30 day challenge i'm going to be drinking a detox/fat burning/all around goodness juice recipe that i came across on this site. I will continue to eat healthy and normally but cutting out meats and cooked grains as today i learned they make me soooooo sluggish and i usually feel my best when i've eaten more fruits and veggies. I'll do a little grocery shopping this week to get the juice and some veggies to add to my spinach to make a salad and just keep it simple for a week. If i have cooked foods it'll be a vegetarian meal and if i have a grain thats cooked it has to be brown rice but this is just my little transitioning week before i get another big pay day to go buy the groceries on week one. Since it's my bday week i decided to finally buy myself a new phone and swimsuit hence not a lot of money for groceries right now as ive promised myself these gifts and im having a gathering for my bday at the water park and i don't own a swimsuit????

All in all i'm excited to embark on my 100% raw journey and hopefully will be inspiration for my family as i really want my mom to get better and i think her eating habits are killing her faster day by day. Hopefully i can share a few meals and work with her on her first 30 days once i can prove to her she'll be fine without a SAD!!

Good luck with the Raw Journey. I found that the quicker I cut out the cooked, non vegan foods the easier it became.

Try soaked and sprouted buckwheat if you are craving cooked grains. I take a small amount and set it in a jar with netting over the top to soak over night.

You need to rinse these grains off every 6 hours or so and don't be alarmed to find they have clear slime. That is a natural part of their germination - like mustard.

In the morning rinse again and drain, setting the jar on an angle so any remaining water runs out and rinse every 6 hours and set to drain again.

I then give one last rinse and pop in a container in the fridge - the buckwheat will have tiny white points emerging from the grain. They are ready to eat :)

The whole process takes about 24 hours including the soaking and I find they are a very useful and delicious alternative to cooked rice etc.

THANK YOU!!! Thanks for the tip about buckwheat i was thinking about doing the same thing with quinoa. Its just i know that we're going to a japanese steakhouse for my bday this week(my idea before deciding to go raw) so i figured this is my one last week to have cooked food but im going to only have it that day and every other day will be as close to raw. I guess this is my transitioning week lol.

Good luck! This is soooo doable. I am an all or nothing type gal so I cant transition like that, so I am jsut doing it full steam ahead...I envy you for being able to do that!! Let us know how it goes daily. would love to read about it.

See i was thinking that but idk if they'll have salads but if they do then i'll prolly opt for that but i could hear my grandparents now complaining about "we come here for a salad!" So i feel i have to please them right now since it was my plan to go. They don't know i'm going raw but im sure they'll know soon as my mom has a big mouth lol

Thank you! I usually am a full speed ahead type of girl also but it's just because of that one day i know there's a set back. But i just posted a blog about me getting rid of 98% of my SAD food and i have organic guacamole, natural organic pb,organic salsa left over that i plan to finish off this week as i experiment with a few raw recipes. Chia seed cereal..FILLING But after this upcoming week i'll be 100% RAW BABY!! I'll definitely keep everyone updated!
