Hey Everyone!
Well Tomorrow I am off like a herd of turtles. :)
At some point there is just no denying what you need to do and you just have to do it. For me, that time is now.
I am just going to take this one day at a time...in that, tomorrow my goal is to Just be raw tomorrow.
I remember a very motivating list....actually let's just talk about lists for a moment shall we? Don't we Love to make them, lol.
I have a list of all my favorite raw dishes.
I have a list of all my health issues.
and now
I have a list of all the foods in cooked/junk land that seem to keep pulling me back there.
On the upside, the latter list has been getting shorter and shorter and is now very short!
But I shant bore you with the details of my lists...I am Sure they could be found in previous blogposts anyway, lol.
One detail however is necessitating that I no longer treat this like a game....I have endometriosis and it's on my bowel now (not diagnosed but I can tell by my symptoms and how they are timed with ovulation and menses). This is a rather serious predicament. As it turns out I am afraid of surgery...and with endo surgery, it is a band-aid fix. Many women have this surgery to remove the endo several times! It just keeps growing back. With it now being affixed to my bowels, removing it also risks tearing my intestine ....and that sounds rather horrible!
Add to that all the rest of horrible endo is....and how anything 'controlling' me, anyone, anything, makes me Crazy. This goes for health issues too! ...perhaps that's why I've ultimately not stuck with any diet...as I felt a certain level of 'owned'. I doooooooon't do owned. Lol....I am a total teenage rebel at heart and proud of it!
But now I am at a point where I am ready to Chose dietary restrictions for the freedom and health it will bring me. It equals more overall freedom when I tally the results. It is worth it and I chosing it. Gene Simmons psychiatrist said a bunch of stuff in this vein that made sense...the end point being that people can change...if they chose to from the inside, if they want to for them, not for anyone else. Her point was that even though it may seem like he is changing for Shannon, the distinction is that he is changing because HE wants to because he respects her and that is important to Him. ....so I am Gene Simmons in this story, Shannon is health and beating endo, and changing my ways is with regards to my diet and exercise habits.
lol....ofcourse I just made that analogy.
So, because I have rebellion issues, I am going to make no hard and fast rules, but general guidelines and those general guidelines are
1) I can have a meal or two on the weekend of my favorite foods from cooked land. This will probably be the same thing every Sunday night, because only one really, Really calls me these days. So I say two meals possibly, just in case there is another meal on the weekend that isn't that particular dish. In times past this has really helped me be successful and even stay all raw for months on end...never needing to actually 'cash anything in' at all.
2) I am not so much worried about condiments. This will include vegan mayo, tamari, maple syrup, spices, honey, whether my nuts are really raw, roasted all natural peanutbutter and possibly goat cheese if I am in a restaurant. (I rationalize goat cheese because this way I can support the creative salad movement that is happening in restaurants?)...I think that's pretty much it. A lot of items on this list are eaten by 'all-raw'bies anyway and the others just happen to also fall into this category *for me*.
So tomorrow I start...I actually have to go to bed immediately so I can wake up in time to go on a little workout before school starts. So There!
