A Little of This; A Little of That

Consider This ~ Food Prices

Rating: 2 votes, 5.00 average.
Recently I had a discussion with a friend about food prices. He was telling me he had fresh berries in the fridge yet, he was only eating a few at a time because they cost so much. Now, he lives where I do and shops where I shop (mostly) so, I know how much berries are. Recently they've been running between 99 cents to $2.99 depending on which and the size of the container.

I also know that he goes out for coffee (regular) and a loaf of white French bread almost every day ~ every other day at the very least AND, he rarely eats the whole loaf.

He told me he knows (consciously) that, it doesn't make sense. I asked him about the times he and his lady go out for sushi and he will get the all-you-can-eat version for about $22-$25. She eat veggie sushi so her meal runs approximately $12. So figure, at the lowest, we're talking $34 plus 9.75% tax. For one meal!

Now, this isn't about him, it's about our monkey mind ~ how we can rationalize things. We'll buy white French bread "because it's cheap", almost half of which gets thrown away, and a cup of coffee, neither of which has any nutritive value whatsoever and then complain about the cost of berries which are PACKED with all KINDS of nutrition. Are we insane or what? (Yes, I'm guilty of this in my own ways as well yet, becoming more and more conscious that I deserve the best food; the best water; the best of everything ~ and, if I want, a lot of it!)

Unlike many women, I don't spend a lot of money on clothing or shoes. I mostly go barefoot and have some sandals or other minimalist footwear.

I'm cleaning out many of my books; cleaning out my closet; cleaning out our garage and ignoring the saying "nature abhors a vacuum"... when, in fact, it doesn't. There's a LOT of empty space in nature and I'm contributing to that!

Hmmm. I just realized something as I wrote the last paragraph. I've recently taken up hooping and, for the most part, the hoop is empty... until I fill it, with me!!!

Feel free to join me on my fitness journey to inspire and be inspiring!
Make it great and keep moovin'!

I don't think I have ever eaten one or two berries at a time ... one or two punnets is more like it!

I'm building up to rehoming a lot of books. Maybe 200-400 of them if I can find homes for that many.

Maybe I'll have a yard sale and use the proceeds to buy berries :)

Yeah, I've never done that either. I'm even loathe to share. Git your own! (my love)

I put many up on Amazon. Don't know if you can do that yet, I've gotten quite a bit of $$$ from doing that. Still have stacks to eliminate. Many may end up at the library.

I sold on amazon a lot for a while but a rash of dishonest buyers took the fun out of it.

    I may start up again.

Yeah, for me too. I posted new (REALLY never used) and nearly new stuff and 2 of them posted with 3 stars ~ one saying it wasn't new (I had 6 of them and was selling all the new ones) and that brought my number down to below 90. Sales ended. All the people who were happy didn't say a word! Ah well. Don't know if I go back on if the same rating/buyers will still be on there.
