Day 32

DAY 32

Well, we did it! We have successfully made a MAJOR life style change to help our health problems (esp. MY health problems) and we are feeling PHENOMINAL!

For those who don’t know…we decided to take the holistic approach to healing and go with the raw vegan lifestyle to help heal all my health problems because I did not want to take the pharmaceutical approach.

In just the 31 days of the month of January, Mike has lost 12lbs and I have lost 13lbs! (And that’s with us cheating about 5-6 times).

We started out planning to be 100% raw and we did that successfully for about 2 weeks. Then we transitioned to an 85% raw and 15% cooked which was more do-able. During the last 17 days of January we did eat restaurant food about 5-6 times. Each time we tried something different to see if it had any worse adverse effect than the other. What we discovered is that, while we were staying raw all the other time, when we ate at a restaurant, we just felt sluggish and rather ill afterward. We wanted to immediately go take a nap. When eating living food, after you are done you just wanna go run a marathon. You feel that good.

Btw, both of our weight loss comes without exercise LOL. I exercised about 2x or so and Mike not at all.

So for me, all of my fibromyalgia pain and symptoms have completely and totally disappeared! Also, the back pain is gone, along with the insomnia, depression, anxiety, stomach issues, this weird dime-size rash I had on my face that I haven’t been able to get rid of in a year and a half. I feel energetic, vibrant, excited, and happy :-) It is SO nice to sleep like a log at night and wake up so energized and excited about life every morning! Before I was NOT a morning person, and I NEVER wanted to leave the house because I was always so tired and felt unwell ALL the time.

NOW…I am bouncing out of bed around 6 am or so..sometimes even earlier…just waking up on my own after sleeping so well. CRAAAZY! AND I LOVE to go places now! LOL…because I just feel so good and do not have any more pain! Yaaaay!

So now the next phase of our plan…FEB…28 days. We are switching it up a little. For the 4 weeks of Feb we are doing 100% raw all the time, except each Sunday we are going to go chill at Starbucks and have a Latte (mine is a decaf soy latte)….so this will do A LOT less damage that restaurant food does to me at this point, yet it gives us that treat to look forward to at the end of each week.

Besides feeling amazing in such a short amount of time (I mean this is truly shocking to feel so well so quickly just by implementing dietary changes and no medications)….I think the next thing I am totally shocked about is how easy this is now becoming.

It was easy the first two weeks…then the mind games set in where we started thinking how much we wanted Mexican food or whatever….we caved, felt crappy afterward, and said it wasn’t worth it.

But now I guess our new habits are ingraining themselves in us because it has been so easy and matter-of-fact to stay raw all day long…its weird..not hard at all. No cravings and any temptation is all in the head and we figured out that if we just DO NOT cave into the temptation, and maybe grab a green smoothie, the temptation completely passes and we feel so much better and energized than if we would have hit the restaurant.

What we are going to do is weigh on the first of each month, and implement that month’s plan (however we previously decided).

So that’s my update. Looking forward to Feb’s plan. The way time is flying, it will be here and gone before we know it :-)

Reading your story made me smile all over myself! CONGRATULATIONS to you both, that is just awesome!!

I feel the EXACT same way when I eat anything cooked, I immediately get tired and sleepy. When I eat live food, I feel ALIVE and full of energy. Cooked food had me lethargic and me no likey!!

    Keep up the great living!!!

Thanks! It's so weird how we are patterned in our old habits though...even though the food makes us feel crappy and we don't have any physical cravings, mentally when we see someone eating pizza or a hot bowl of chili & corn bread...we want it! We have learned not to give in all the time but I wonder if that feeling will ever go away. I hope so! :-)
