Day 5

Rate this Entry
May 7th, 2007 - Today is the first day so far that I have not lost weight. Bummer! I don't know if it's because of the decaf I drank at Starbucks or that I ate too many nuts...in the form of hummus and pate, etc. I am thinking , likely, the latter.

The GOOD NEWS is that while at Barnes and Noble/Starbucks yesterday I bought Victoria Boutenko's wonderful book "12 Steps to Raw Foods" and I am thoroughly enjoying it! I am starting my day this morning with a Green Smoothie!

Breakfast -

Green Smoothie consisting of: 1 c. frozen strawberries, 2 bananas, 2 c. water and several handfuls of raw organic baby spinach. Amazingly tasty!

Not feeling particularly energetic or joyful this morning...had bad dreams all night long which left me feeling icky. I hate that! But the weather is beautiful! Blue skies and sunshine...think I will walk to Wild Oats to get some kale and spinach and stuff and cut back on my nut consumption today to see if that makes a difference (I already know that it will!)

weight loss WILL fluctuate - water weight, 'that time of the month', some days you'll lose a pound a day, some days nothing - then some wake up 7 pounds lighter !! LOL -- I wouldn't mind that! ;) ! Your frame of mind is great though - you're staying on track - and getting exercise - you're doin it girl!!! YOU'RE DOIN IT!!!

Isn't it funny how weight works? I lose weight in spurts, usually at the end of the week I'll weigh myself because daily I fluctuate by 5 pounds give or take. Nuts can definately keep weight on, especially if they aren't soaked as the enzyme inhibitors haven't been removed. Sounds like you are having a lovely day though!

Thanks so much for the words of support and encouragement, girls! It is so RAWSOME to have this special place to come and share this adventure and challenge and new way of just BEING.

I didn't realize that soaking the nuts released the enzymes. So, is it better to not nibble on them unsoaked? Also, I have read that some raw food people don't eat peanuts? Is there a problem with peanuts?

Also, what about decaf coffee and teas? Is there any particular reason to not consume them? (obviously any kind of coffee is not raw...but do you think it will hurt or deter from success?) Thanks again for all the amazing support! You girls RAWK!!!;)
